Like the handstand, the handstand push up is an important fundamental of gymnastics, and should be in parkour and freerunning as well. Handstand push ups increase overhead pushing strength like no other body weight exercise, while also training spatial awareness and balance. However, some people do not have the strength to easily work up to handstand push ups. By doing resting your feet on a raised obstacle, with either straight or bent legs, you can replicate the same overhead pushing motion with slightly less resistance.
