Welcome! / Re: Halla from Lafayette Indiana!
« on: March 19, 2011, 11:43:10 AM »
We had an outstanding turnout!  :D  Ten guys showed up and we did everything from rolls and vaults to follow the leader.  I had to be the unofficial teacher for the jam XD but I managed to explain the moves and techniques without much hassle (lazy vault, roll, precision).  Thanks to the guys here on APK for all the ideas and advice ;) we now have a base group of guys who are all pretty enthusiastic about parkour.

I doubt I could have kept them entertained for two hours without your advice :)  So thanks once again!

Thanks for the quick responses. :)

Our group is up to 8 now with 1-2 more looking to join in.  We have our first little warm-up jam/training session Saturday this weekend, I will definitely message after I get questions from the whole group.  Thanks!  :)

Welcome! / Halla from Lafayette Indiana!

Hi! :)  I'm Michael Brisco, 17 in a month or so, and am currently acting coordinator of a small group in the little slice of Indiana called Lafayette. ;) (others may be more familiar with the west-lafayette/purdue side of things which is just across the river)

We currently have about six members and have another three looking to join as of this post(No one under 16.  Not that age matters, but we are a pretty mature group all things considered).  I am personally surprised by the numbers considering how much of a joke parkour is to people in Lafayette.  I've posted in the Indiana section, but it seems like those guys take a little while to respond ;)  and I would love to get into contact with the guys here on APK.

We don't really have a group name or any fun stuff like that yet, so we've just been calling ourselves INPK Lafayette and hoping that creativity will strike us at some point.  XD  Thank you APK for having a site like this where even the small groups like mine can let it be known that they exist. :)

Always looking for new people to jam with! :)
(also, we are as nuggety as it gets seeing as there aren't many veterans in this neck of the woods, I am open to contact via email if anyone would like to get together with our group or just give advice, feedback, tell us how much we suck, etc. ;) )

IN Regions / Lafayette! (West-Lafayette/Purdue as well)

Not sure if this would go in a club section, but here it goes.  ;D

Myself and several other guys are planning on starting up the group jams and training sessions this summer.  We are veeeery green right now and in need of anyone who knows their stuff.  You don't need experience or any sort of parkour background to hang with us though, because we are pretty chill. ;)  If you are in the Lafayette area, near Purdue, or even in West-Lafayette, just throw an email my way and we will set this stuff up!  Our guys are generally 16-18 age-wise right now, but obviously parkour isn't reserved for any one age group, so as long as they are mature, anyone and everyone is welcome because we do NOT discriminate. ;)

Hopefully we will have a nice little group before the start of the summer and can meet up with some of the more experienced guys in the midwest at some point.  Fliers are going to start going up at the school for our "after-school parkour" club.  Will try to keep this updated with how the group is progressing.

If you want to contact us, I'm the unofficial group coordinator of our little troop and can be contacted by email at

Indiana / Re: Welcome 2 IN *Post Here*

Halla!  :)  My name is Michael, currently going on 17 shortly here, license will most likely be appropriated at the same time. ;)

Lafayette doesn't have too many good spots and parkour is not big here at all to my knowledge.  =/  I am pretty independent and still hammering the basics before I try anything crazy(safety first for this solo guy).  By summer my basic training should be complete though, and I'll be driving to boot, so I am quite open to jams outside my area.  [Warning I am very new to actual parkour!  I am just in decent shape core-wise and fearless as a baby seal.]
Always looking for tips from my peers, can't wait to start getting involved in the Indiana jams! :)

I check it at least once every other day, so sorry ahead of time for late responses.
[I also have facebook, but I appreciate emails slightly more] ;)

Quick Edit: To avoid confusion, no I am not in or joining the armed forces, though I have the utmost respect for our troops.  Basic training is only meant in the sense that it was basic, and it was training. :)

Welcome! / Re: Welcome Thread - New Members please announce here!
« on: July 13, 2010, 05:38:12 PM »
:D Hey all!  My name is Michael no official nickname besides my self imposed tag: Schloss(A German translation for the English word castle).  I've recently started up parkour(just a few weeks of training as of this post  ::) ) after two and a half years of pursuing music and not much of anything else(made me a little bit out of shape).

My conditioning and workouts seem twice as hard as they should be, but I have yet to be defeated by my lack of fitness.(For anyone who wondered, no I'm not fat  ;)  super slim for being so out of shape)  I have yet to find anyone else in my little slice of Lafayette Indiana that is in to parkour, so my knowledge is limited to what I can find online.

Hoping to join the ranks of free runners in the coming month's and eventually years.  Any tips or advice would be appreciated!  Thanks to everyone who makes up this community!   :)
