First MTV. They say at the beginning of the show not to try anything that they do, but doesn't that make people think they aren't capable of free running? Then there's all those people on the sidelines clapping constantly, shaking their heads wondering how the hell they are doing it thinking they can't, but in reality EVERYONE is capable of doing parkour. Maybe not the double front flips into rolls and what not, but thats tricking not parkour(i think there's a difference). The people competing even say that doing this will make it more popular. Yes more popular to watch. not to do. Plus like people have said before, parkour is not meant to be competitive and all that.

Second all these different video games like mirrors edge and assassins creed make kids look at it and say wow i WISH i could do that. When in reality once again EVERYONE is capable of doing it. Maybe if they weren't sitting there playing it or watching it, they could be outside actually living it. Same thing goes for movies. It puts the thought into peoples minds that they will never be that good or could never actually do it because its in a movie or game.

I personally found out about it after playing assassins creed and i saw a youtube video of "real life assassins creed" and i said to myself WOW i didnt know people could actually do that. but most kids even after seeing real people doing it still think "well ill never be able to do that" so they go play video games.

I'm not trying to generalize everyone, but from my experience there are a lot of people that do that.

David Belle says that the true capability of the human body still hasn't been discovered. Well it never will be if half the population thinks its only in movies and video games.

My point is that the more popular it gets, the more people will try it for wrong reasons or not try it at all. And MTV of all things is only putting it on TV so they can make money. Look at everything else thats on MTV. Drugs sex money. Think about it, MTV is horrible. Why should we let them ruin parkour for more people.

The media in my opinion is ruining parkour. I dunno if i explained this as best as i could but its hard for me to throw all my thoughts together sometimes.

If we could get discovery down it would be awesome!

Parkour done by those Life directors! All epic and in slow mo. With Oprah narrating!

I was thinking the same thing except no Oprah  :) i dunno why but i really don't like Oprah. It actually made me not watch life because of how much i cant stand her

I use to BMX. Then I stopped when my parents divorce happened then I turned into a fat kid and now I'm into parkour. :) So life is good. I tried skating but it just wasn't for me. BMX use to be a big passion of mine. Now it's art, writing, music and parkour.

But I've always wanted to wakeboard.

Same exact thing happened to me, they divorced when i was 8 and i ended up being really fat until my junior year of high school. I think when parents divorce it has a direct impact on their children.  :(

yes thank you  :)

I just wish it was easier to get natural whole foods that weren't so damn expensive... like organic veggies and fruits are sometimes twice as much  :-\

It really is somewhat depressing. Plus its like how do you know if its really even organic and naturally grown.

I was in my kondo complex. There are these heroin dealers on the other side. So in my dream i was fighting them and running for my life. There came a point where they almost killed my dog so i went to find who did it. I found the guy and he pulled out a gun and started chasing me and trying to shoot me. My complex somehow turned into a mall and i started free running and escaping from this guy. First i vaulted over 3 things, then i had to run up a wall and then i jumped off of this wall and rolled so perfectly and i definitely escaped  :) although it was just a dream it was really epic so i thought I'd share.

your definitely right, now that i think about it i apologize for my ignorance.

I think what i wasn't taking into account was that before i switched to a vegetarian diet i pretty much ONLY ate meat which was a problem because i had no fruits veggies etc.

I read in another post that things taste good when your body has been missing it. therefore since ive been missing fruits veggies etc they taste absolutely scrumptious lol.

another thing to take into account is the cholesterol. If you have too much, your blood cant circulate properly so once again i almost only ate meat. therefore of course i couldn't perform at my fullest because i didnt have the veggies to fight the cholesterol. I don't know why its all clicking now, maybe because of this board lol.

But yeah i think its more of balancing your diet and eating natural foods and now that im back in shape i think i need to start eating a little meat( fish because it tastes good to me) but making sure once again that my diet is balanced.

Once again sorry for my ignorance i should have researched a little more. Either way i still love fruits and veggies and parkour  ;D

okay well let me further explain....

I have eaten meat my whole life based off the fact that i thought i was supposed to. I recently researched it and found that you can actually live without eating meat. I personally dont like the taste of meat eggs or milk, so it was more like me just eating what i want, which just happens to be no animal products.

I am in very good shape lately, probably better shape than every before in my life.

All this added onto the fact that based off my morals i dont like how animals are treated in todays industry. ( slaughter houses, animal abuse, etc.)

So those are the 2 MAIN reasons why i am a vegan. If i was put into a forest during winter time I would hunt and eat meat only because i would need to do so to survive.

Another thing is im not the kind of guy that goes to a restaurant and asks if there is chicken broth, eggs, milk, or anything else of the sort. Ill order something that sounds good and ill eat it. The only thing i wont really eat is meat in its physical form. I said in my other post that i enjoy the taste of sushi and thats why i still ate that, but the last couple of times i ate fish it gave me the worst stomach ache ever. THEN i ate some shrimp at 12 in the afternoon. At 3 o clock in the morning i woke up and threw it up. i personally feel like my body just doesnt like meat.

SO based off of this, could i still do fine in parkour without meat?

And whats this about grains being the culprit? I searched vegetarian and read almost every post but i didnt see any information about this

a lot of reasons actually, I never really liked the taste of meat eggs or milk, its actually really healthy as long as you get protein calcium vit B12 and a couple of other things. Plus  i love animals and a lot of the slaughter houses abuse them and then after seeing what happens at a slaughter house it made me not want it anymore. Plus how the human body is set up( on the inside) its kinda like where meant to be vegetarian.

there's other reasons too but its hard to say them all of the top of my head =]

and I'm not trying to change anyone's views, he asked.

Diet / is anyone else here a vegetarian/vegan?
« on: May 13, 2010, 04:11:05 PM »
because i am and i was wondering if anyone had any experience doing parkour on a vegetarian diet.

I don't eat eggs or milk unless its already in something im going to eat.(veggie burgers, fake chicken etc.) so i guess im closer to vegan?

I don't have any issues as far as protein or calcium goes and i seem to be doing just fine as far as energy goes. If i have to eat meat ill eat fish because i actually enjoy sushi, but it messes with my stomach because its not used to eating it so i prefer not to. I get enough protein from tofu, soy, beans etc. and i take a calcium supplement.

So yeah I'm still a beginner to parkour so any feedback would help because i seem to be doing fine now but if a problem may occur in the future it would be good to know now =]

I'm new to the forum, just signed up today, but i have been interested in parkour for a couple of years now and about 6 months ago i finally got into shape and started doing it.

I grew up being very out of shape and unhealthy, but it has motivated me the last couple of years to get into shape and now im getting so much better =]

But yes Parkour is starting to get "popular" and there seems to be a lot of people that will only do it because of that reason, Its actually really annoying.

I love parkour. Nothing is going to stop me from doing it  :)
