Hey don't hate on me. I was told by my mestre that schools were rare.
Capoeira was developed to defend slaves from the slave owners. It was disguised as a dance because people were not allowed to practice martial arts for the very  reason it was practiced.

AGAIN - feel free to say I'm wrong but what I'm saying is what Mestre Beto taught.

cant tell if you're kidding or not with the :O face
a) there's no "sensei" - it's Mestre, or master
b) Capoeira, historically and culturally speaking, was learned by watching and imitating. A good way to learn it is by watching others more skilled at it. A good way to practice technique is to watch yourself in a mirror. I've been told that in brazil, it's rare you'll find a capoeira school. However, you'll find a Roda (pronounced Hoh-dah) just on the streets somewhere.

now in america I'm guessing you're not gonna find too many rodas popping up, but if someplace near you has a brazilian day or culture festival coming up, you'll probably find some capoeiristas there.

I love capoeira. It's useful to me in many ways. Not all relate to parkour but it's certainly worth learning. In fact, I just got home from a capoeira class lol.

So you think he's not qualified? Oh well, because we think he is.

My journey on apk started almost two years ago, and that's about when my training started too. After 4 months of really posting on here I was promoted to Global Moderator. I wasn't ready for this, but I got the job none the less. And about 4 months after that, I got Administrator. I wasn't ready for this either. But I've learned on the job, and I personally don't think I've screwed to much up (others might argure :P ).

Nick has been training for almost as long as me, if I can be Admin, he sure as heck can do the simple job of welcoming people to this site.

I sent Joe a facebook message which pretty much summed up my views; however if you'd like me to personally poke holes in your specific arguments, feel free to message me as well ^.^

Nick Smith is an Ambassador...?

I quit APK again. He has no idea what he's talking about. Ever.

Movement / Re: Wall Run: 100% Technique Possible?

Just cause it's in a video game doesnt mean it's not real... Like flips. If I do a standing tuck, it's gonna be what it is, but if I add one back handspring before it, it's gonna be a lot higher. If I add two or more handsprings, that tuck is going to turn into a layout or dub back.

Then everything I learned is a LIE... which may be true who knows. BUT everything I've heard says above your head? ROLL! Though I can understand if rolling from a drop without forward momentum is bad, kinda counterproductive, and then maybe in that case you'd want to "slap down" but STILL avoid those situations.

OKAY SERIOUSLY... "Slapping Out" is cool and all, but WHY NOT KEEP YOUR MOMENTUM AND ROLL! It's better on your knees and like I've said several times, keeps momentum. Seriously guys -.-'

In my opinion, everything is mental.

no, but some have asked my why I only wear black and white, and why I trip big vaults and tricks instead of just rolling arround; no attempted "capture" typically happens... And boo you for an off topic post!
