Training Journals / My Workout Routine(s)
« on: January 10, 2010, 08:28:47 PM »
Upper Body
-----------
pushups in general. Varies from day to day, regular, tricept, one hand, wide, and so on
pull ups/shin ups - using both bars and areas that are close to each other I can place a hand on one and the other and perform a
'nuetral' push up I guess.
verticle pushups - hand stand, lower and raise until fatigued. Love this, although I do get a little dizzy at times, so might need to be a bit careful :P

Lower Body
-----------
sit ups, crunches, lift myself off the ground, and without swinging lift my legs together creating a 90 degree angle, eyes facing forward and toes poiting up, bottom of my feet facing forward, if you can imagine that.

Eating/diet
-----------
Whatever is for dinner haha. Mainly basic proteins, fruits and vegtables, dairies and breads, generally nothing packaged.
Energy drinks - I dont generally go for these, and honestly dont feel any difference, only bloating, but I do want to try out the 5 hour energy shot one day. Protein shakes are nice, although very rish in taste, so might need to reevaluate what I buy.

I get up around 5:30 am, get myself situated and leave the house at 6:05 - 6:15 and on my way down to the bus stop to school *since I don't have a car yet* I stop by the play ground in the area and do pull ups on the monkey bars, close handed and one hand on one monkey bar and one on another and just pull up, this help? There isn't a single long bar to do pull up/chin ups on.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Arrested for Parkour.
« on: December 06, 2009, 02:55:11 PM »
I go to college at Expressions for digital art. I thought about pressing charges but I never really thought to get his badge number. Which was dumb of me I just wanted it to be over and stop shaking.

Edit: Now that I can think clearly, I realize that, why did the security guard accuse me of stealing? Or breaking in. He said I was at a perfect point to get into the parking garage. But in fact the garage has many open doors and I could have just went through the ramp D: Also why would I sit down, if I was planning to break in? It just doesn't add up. When looking at it from a different view. I guess I just have bad luck lol

Man, that all just blows, but I think it is very interesting that you were going to Expressions, I actually wish to take Animation and Visual Effects there. Now, keep in mind I'm quoting this from the first page, but this is interesting. Sueing is possible, but what the downside of all of this is that since the security guard and the police are involved, and really, regardless of whether or not you are telling 110% of the truth, you will lose. the chance of 'winning' this case is close to nothing.

This is just another obstacle you need to overcome. Adapt.

Why hello there! Many of us here at APK actually dont want it to become an "extreme sport". I wont go into it now, but look around here and youll find out soon  :)
Oh I know about it haha. It is pretty extreme, more so *depending on what your are doing i.e. rail hoping or roof hoping* than skating, and football haha.

Welcome! / Re: climbing
« on: December 03, 2009, 08:25:38 PM »
I never said anything about forcing myself in.. I just said people are curious little guys who are wondering what the hell I'm doing.. NEVER has the manager completely banned me from doing it, I've made a few friends actually, after they know about the whole thing they actually get pretty interested, just the first time people see me theres a little bit of questioning, becuase it is strange to them..

Skateboarders destroy property and leave skid marks half cross the world... We'll never go there ANd, Parkour will only get a bad name If you resist, I always  talk it out and compromise

And anyway... i did explain why you would want to train there for a little bit. there really isn't any gain to training there all the time but, I do simply cause it's fun! What's more BadAss than building jumping?
Agreed and above you mentioned talking to the manager/owner of the propety, which is a good idea but there is the chance you will obviously get shot down. And if you go and do it anyways, thats bad rep on YOU, not parkour. Also, you only way I can see building climbing/jumping, roof hoping, etc as being a possible 'defacing,' is if the shingles break apart or you bust through the entire freaking roof. I get on buildings a lot, granted no adults/managers/administration see it. I know one time I got caught by a patrolling golf cart lady who barely spoke english, and I beleive that if you get hurt on the property it could be liable on the owners of the building as well. IF that makes sense.

Welcome! / Re: WINTER
« on: December 03, 2009, 08:19:47 PM »
I actually jsut recently made the mistake of misjudging the weather and my move. Parkour, in my opinion, is like driving. With a car, never drive faster than is safe for current conditions. I attempted a cat leap onto a SLEEK/WET railing that looked like so: IIIIII and I've done this before. I would catch my hands on the top of the rail and land my balls of my feet onto the middle. Jumped, got the hand placement, HAD the foot placement, feet slipped down, smashed both my shins and knees into the railing. I have been inactive since Thanksgiving *did this stunt the day before* but now have recovered mostly from it. Might wait a day or two more before I do anything really 'cool.'

This is a grand example of rest. Love it or hate it every single free runner, parkour'er, or tracour'er has HAD to do it. Know your limits, can you do a successful precision jump 5 feet onto a possibly iced rail/cinderblock/whatever you are jumping on?

this also brings up something that I do. I like to bring a towel or two with me. I can use it to either:
1. wipe off/dry up a rail/surface
2. wipe off/dry up me :)

Welcome! / Re: New Free Runner

What to train on?
Well...
I use rails and walls/buildings at schools and parks, the playgrounds and monkey bars are surprisingly fun to work with. Some iregular trees *If you can find one* to help with jumping and such I love chairs, trachcans, freshmen, bleachers, small elevated surfaces, stair cases, and, well... There really is no limit to what you can work with in truth. If you see something, you can do something.

Thanks for the FAQ link, I'll get right to it.

I *my group* is located near Sacramento, in El Dorado Hills, which lies inbetween Folsom and Cameron Park.

My exercises include pushups (normal, tri, one handed, wide) crunches (normal, side to side, chair *legs at 90 degree angle*) pull ups (fingers facing, away, and nuetral) jogging roughlt 10-15 minutes a day and practice jumps whenever I can, be it in class or out :)

Right now trying to work on Vaulting/Kong'ing. Tables where I live aren't 'friendly' with several holes that could catch my fingers :(

Also right now at the tippy end of recovering after a failed cat leap onto some railing at 10 in the morning *slick metal* brusing both shins and knee caps* before Thanksgiving. Also working on precision leaping on railing *of stairs* and rolling. I'm not used to rolling, but it is SOOOOO helpful and allows me to continue without pause. I used to just jump and land, then have a cussing fit and waddle away.

Hey guys and gals!  ;D
I'm making a group, Eternal Endeavor, mostly focused in the El Dorado Hills area. This however isn't just an invite but also a challenge, or an encouragement to create, your own group. Rough stuff to work with right now, but maybe collaborate, communicate, compete, etc. Throw comments and thoughts.  ::)

Welcome! / Hello one and all
« on: December 03, 2009, 11:55:13 AM »
Hello everyone!

My name is Jeff, i'm a junior at my high school, and have taken up parkour/freerunning as a active hobby rather than play football or soccer. I also am in the middle of puting together a group or crew, and have already started something on FaceBook, and we are Eternal Endeavor. A small group, inexperienced, but learning fast and training. I very much enjoy this sort of stuff because it keeps me in tip top shape, for people who don't completely understand it it is cool and startling, and it helps me promote 'A Natural High' at my school, where you find an activity that makes you feel good but isn't a drug.

Anyways, I'm new to this *roughly 3-5 months in the making* so any and all advice is greatly appreciated and I hope to publish some of my own stuff :)
