Parkour And Freerunning / What do you see?

Parkour in 5 years?
Ten years?

In five years I see signs saying: NO PK ON PUBLIC PROPERTY
And parks built specifically for parkour in almost every city possible.
More people getting into it.

In ten years:
Major publicity to parkour. Like more chase scenes with pk/fr in TV shows and movies. More movies though.
Traceurs/traceuses not being trashed by people who don't understand or respect parkour.
PK being so famous that it is in the X-games (It would be cool but parkour isn't comp. Free running is though)
PK/FR being so famous, skateboarding is less popular.

What do you see?

Casino Royal is a good movie. I didn't watch it till maybe a few months after I got back into parkour. Me and clinton were sitting there laughing our asses off because Daniel Craig kept failing and had to use a lot of wires while Sebastien Foucan only need wires on the cranes. But where do you go for classes?

A lot of you should also realize that not many of these teams have applied for sponsorships. They were just training and putting up videos of their training on youtube (without the intent of gaining publicity), when a company was exploring those videos and decided to contact them with an offer.

And well, who would say no to that?

That's what my team did

I agree with Luke that camera is good. I don't use it for my parkour videos but I do use it with my friends in some other videos.

Welcome! / Re: New to Parkour. any other 40+ people doing this?
« on: July 20, 2009, 07:27:16 AM »
Yes, major respect. I wanna take my dad and uncle (my dad is 31 and my uncles is 36) to do parkour next time I am at Avila beach. My dad can't though... his knees. My uncle could probably do some but I would have to teach him some of the basics... I hope I am doing parkour when I am 40. I am only 15 now but who knows... 25 years is a long way away for me.
Major respect to you man. Hope you train safe.
Oh and some advice I learned after I joined APK is that you should read the General Fitness stickies and definitely learn how to prevent chronic injury.

Well you don't need fancy cameras like the Red One.
What is your budget?

I am on a team. But the last thing we are looking for is a sponsor. We don't think we are good enough yet to even apply for one. But the reason I posted this reply was to say that there are people who make teams just for the  publicity. Then there are those [some are on this forum] who make a team just to be with their friends. I for one am against competition. Sponsorship just promotes competition.

Thanks. This advice has actually led to me filling up like half of my parkour notebook. Oh and I'm not as I used to be when I was 12. I train a lot and I am actually out to learn as much about parkour as I can.

It was shorter than that... I went to the park again today to see how high... it was 5 feet and 6 inches

Five and a half feet will cause damage to your system.  There is no reason to train drops that high.

I didn't train that. I was getting off the slide. It wasn't even a heavy landing... I don't think that would damage to my system... just because the walls I train my wall runs are actually taller than me... I am 6'

I dropped what? Like 8 feet... not even that... I know it wasn't high enough to roll... but I mean she said don't kill yourself... I knew what I was doing...

I think that was the point of this thread... yeah... the stupid haters like that girl at the park... damn that pissed me off... I dropped what? Like 8 feet... not even that... I know it wasn't high enough to roll... but I mean she said don't kill yourself... I knew what I was doing... but I told him to read it but he made up an excuse... the excuse was and I quote: "I can't read it. I literally can't read it. I can't log in so I can't read it... I deleted my account so there is no way to read it" I told him that you don't need to be signed in to view the thread....
