All of you have to Metra it down Chicago this spring/summer.  There's weekly jams downtown and Naperville and Arlington heights have jams every few weeks.  I'd be more than happy having a few come down to Naperville, jamming for the day, staying overnight at my house, then heading to Chicago the next day.

Does anyone have any experience with these?  They seem to be the craze in the UK right now.  Phil Doyle, Max Runham, and others are all wearing them, but very few stores seem to have them in stock.  And the ones that do have them in stock are all sold out except for one color.

Most stores are selling them for 40ish dollars online right now.

I watched teg's videos, He is nothing above a general practicioner, his words dont need to be respected he just speaks out of jealousy it would seem, Im not impressed with him as a person or as a traceur. Think is that the kind of attitude or person you would want representing us as a community. personally I would rather have someone like illabaca represent us. Amazing traceur and person, hes humble and wants to help. not ridicule..... just think about it.

Honestly, I'm leaning more towards Teg's side of the argument, but everything I would have said has been said by others already so I won't bore you with typing my whole opinion out.  Whether or not you agree with Teg's point of view and whether or not you respect him as a person, though, you have to admit that he's definitely a very talented traceur.

Haha, did you go to www.chicagoparkour.net like I said in the other topic?  There's a TON of people in your area.  We held a jam that was pretty much last minute in Naperville about a month ago that had over 30 people.  The Chicago national jam had around 150 people.  We had weekly jams in Chicago (short metra ride from Willowbrook) that averaged around 15 people and had two jams directed strictly towards beginners over the course of the past year.  The Chicago land community is one of the most active in the US, but we don't use the APK forums.  They're pretty much just there to lead people to Aero.  Check it out and introduce yourself!

There's a lot of people.  I'm in Naperville myself.  Head over to www.Chicagoparkour.net for more responses, though.  What town do you live in?

I'm in Naperville, but I'm 18.  I train with a 15 and 17 year old in the area on a pretty regular basis.  You just missed a great jam in Naperville that had about 30 people attend.  Like Moogle said, get over to www.chicagoparkour.net if you haven't already.

Yeah dude, you've easily got the strength. You just need to refine the technique.

Here's Ryan's explination for drilling the top part of wall climbs: http://www.americanparkour.com/content/view/181/407/

That's what you seem to be struggling with. Try to keep both arms equal when pulling yourself up aswell, don't rock from one to another.

Happy training!

Thanks for the tip!  But I do think whether you top out with both feet on the wall or with one foot while swinging the other through is all based on preference and the situation. They're both similar speed wise.  The only advantage I can really see to both feet is if you were to precision directly after your climbup.  I can do both, but I definitely feel like I think about it a lot less when I do the one foot thing.  I do have to keep drilling the other one though, so thanks for the reminder.

As for the arms being unequal, I'm not sure what you're referring to.  At the end of the climbing part I went one arm at a time because I'm not a huge fan of heights and that felt a lot safer, but during the part where I was drilling just the climbups I didn't think I was, was I?  It's hard to tell from the video, but I didn't feel like I was.

The three main answers you're going to get are UIC, Grant Park, and Riverfront.  I'd post this on www.chicagoparkour.net, though.

nice video! im lovin the vide.  two big problems i saw  your pulling your body into and over the wall (this usually means you lack lat strength and explosive pulling strength in general) and your feet are too far under your body ( if you raise them up a bit, especially your top foot, you get more traction on the wall because more surface of your foot is on the wall).    all you need to do is raise those feet and work on your pull-ups with a full range of motion all the way down and all the way up with focus on pulling up as fast as possible and lowering down nice and controlled. this will give you the strenght to pop up and away from the wall ;D   i <3 climb-ups

Alright man, thanks a ton.  I'll have to give that a try next time I get out to train.

I went out a made a short video of some of the stuff I trained today and was wondering if you guys could help.  I recently got climbups down with somewhat okay form.  After 2 years of thinking it was a strength issue, it turned out to be form.  I know my upper body isn't terribly strong, 3 bouts of tendinitis in my shoulder in the past 3 years from other sports took away a lot of strength, but anyone can make excuses I guess.  1:27-1:41 is where a couple climbups are.  Besides the need for some more conditioning, some of the stuff I've noticed is my left leg tends to flail/kick out awkwardly and I sink down a little when my hands first land on top.  Oh, and on the last one my feet aren't staggered as much as they should be, but I think I actually got a little more of a push than on the others.  Anything you guys can offer to help my tall lanky self look less awkward would be very appreciated.  ;)

Hey, Zullala, I'd recommend that you go check out this thread over a Aero Parkour: http://chicagoparkour.net/forum/index.php?topic=1909.0

Some of us are planning on going down to Champaign to catch the Matt and Kim/Yea Big and Kid Static concert on September 13th at Parkland College.  Details haven't been set in stone yet, but there's a really good chance that we're going to be there.  We were planning on training before the concert.  It would be awesome to meet up with your crew.

Post on www.chicagoparkour.net, you'll get more answers.  It really depends when it is, but there's usually at least one jam somewhere in Chicago every weekend and if you set something up for a weekday there's usually quite a few people that will make it out.

Hey man, great video.  A few questions though.  Were you at Colossal?  I remember seeing someone there with beastly strength that looked exactly like you.  If you were at Colossal, were are you from?  Also, what's your conditioning regimen like?  Your explosiveness and overall strength really impressed me.

This is just a little video I put together after two of the most fun days of jamming in my life.  It features members of the Aero Parkour community.  Please watch past the 30 second mark, it gets better.   ;)
