Idaho / Columbia Parkour Club

So a friend of mine and I were out practicing on some rails at school during our open period one day.  After we had finished up and were back inside, a security guard nicely told us to not go on them again.  Awhile later we decided to ask him why, but we couldn't find him and instead found another security guard.  So, we asked him and he ended up being extremely understanding.  He told us to draw up a list of things we want to use, how we're going to use them, and then he would talk to the guy in charge about it all.  We did that and he truly is interested and understanding.  He gave us some suggestions on how we can get this thing rolling, and he also said that it would be neat if we could perform for the school at an assembly as a kind of recruitment.  The chances of this thing actually getting off the ground are slim, but the chances of getting permission to use the school as a practicing area are actually fairly high.  Just wanted to let everyone know and see what you all thought.

Oregon / Newberg anyone?

Hey, is anyone out in the Newberg area over by George Fox University?  I'm planning on going to college there and I was hoping there would be someone else there.

In the Parkour Community, there are a lot of different kinds of people.  What I'd like to know is if there is any kind of pattern or trend in the personality types.  So, I'm asking you to follow this link (http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp), and then take the test.  Originally, the test was formed by some guy with a fancy major and all that whatnot, but now it is used in companies to determine the positioning of employees.  Once you've completed it, send me an email with your name (or APK username), type, experience, and gender (if you feel comfortable with that).

Here is an example:

My entire life

Send it to cadd92@gmail.com and I'll post the results right here.  Thanks in advance for your help!

General Fitness / Abnormal abs
« on: December 21, 2008, 12:15:01 AM »
I started training for Parkour awhile ago.  When I started, I noticed that there is something strange about my abs.  Instead of all my ab muscles being even, there is a difference from the left and right sides.  The troughs in between each muscle are lower on my left side than on my right.  Is there something wrong with this?  I am dominantly right sided for everything except chewing, but I have been working on getting my left side stronger.  Is this a good way to counteract my odd ab growth pattern, or is there a better way?

A couple of months ago, I hurt my knees when I kneeled down on a cement floor. I let it heal for a couple of days, and then I went back to my normal schedule. Well, the injury compounded and now I have pain in my knee joints when I land a jump or do squats.  The pain feels as if it is between the upper and lower parts of the joints, but the sharpest pain (which is actually dull in comparison to a cut or pinch) is on the very top of the tibia.  I don't have any popping or restraint when I bend my knees, so I don't think that it is a meniscal tear or a damaged ligament.  I also don't see any inflammation, but I'm still open to suggestions.  I put an Ace knee brace on the left knee (which is the worst of the two) about a week ago, and started using ibuprofen for the pain and possible inflammation.  What kind of injury do I have, and what more can I do to help it heal? If it continues, I'll go to a doctor, but until then, what kind of exercises can I do that won't worsen the injury? (I'm already doing the usual pushups, situps, and pullups and a bit of flexibility that won't cause my knees to bend too far with weight on them.)
