So yeah i hadn't been doing parkour for a few months  :-\  and just these past 2 week got back to doing it.. A few days ago my bf decided he wanted me to try monkey vaults which i hadn't even attempted to try yet.. And i am happy to say I got it down that night! :D He showed me a few times then had me do it in steps and it wasn't nearly as hard as i had thought. Now to progress it..

Mississippi / Jam in H'burg.
« on: July 21, 2008, 10:22:36 AM »
Hey i'm working on putting a jam together in Hattiesburg.. No real details are set out yet.. I'm in contact with some guys who are interested in driving over to jam.. So i'm waiting on responses before i'll have any..
So if anyone is interested in attending (guy or girl) or know of anyone who might be let me know.. I'll work on setting a date that works for as many as i can get and we'll go from there.

I haven't even begun to attempt a monkey vault or kong yet. My boyfriend was kind of showing me how by just doing a monkey from a stand still position over a hand rail.. Looks like a piece of cake when he does it.. Still being relatively new i think i will hold off.. But for some reason the biggest problem i have is thinking of how the heck i'm suppose to get my legs through my arms high enough not to catch whatever i'm trying it on with my feet and face planting.  It seems more of a mental restraint than a physical one, and maybe once i get further into my pk practices/training it won't seem as horrible, but for now i can't get passed that.  I have confidence i can support my body weight with my arms it's just figuring out where to put/how to work my legs that keeps me far away from that move.

Um... this is really none of my business and I don't know you or your situation, but for the record, this sentence made me really mad. At the risk of passing premature and unfair judgments, that strikes me as a really disrespectful thing for him to do.

Just had to throw that out there.

Yes it's very frustrating.. >:(  Nice to see someone else who sees it this way. Thanks

Just thought i'd share with others and post about it on here.. Get multiple traceuse shirts circulating out there..

I am really interested in the mentoring idea.. I haven't really looked to see if it's up or not yet being new to APK..  I'm new and parkour doesn't really exist in my area :'( .  Even if i couldn't actually meet in person with a mentor i'd love to have one for motivation, tips, etc..  I've picked up on parkour from my boyfriend, who no longer lives near me to teach me, and doesn't quite take me seriously on the parkour subject because i'm his girlfriend. So having a woman mentor who i know would take me seriously and help would be great.

Hey all!  I'm Gabby.  I'm just now really getting into pk thanks to my boyfriend who introduced me to it.. After watching him and his friends do some things it really sparked my interest.. As soon as I finally truely get into it he moves and is now TXPK :( .  So now i'm kinda trying to learn it on my own :-\ .  Apparently in MS, or atleast the area i am in, parkour is non-existant..  But it's nice to find somewhere where i can atleast get pointers.

Awesome. Either way is fine by me. We don't really have any good places up here to train other than the university which is ok but it..
