Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Who is your favorite Traceur/Freerunner
« on: February 16, 2010, 01:32:08 PM »
Syn, i would have to say that you are my personal favorite traceur/freerunner. apart from the sheer natural ability and flow which i envy a LOT, this one time when i was talking to you on facebook, the things you said to me just inspired me more than anyone has. i think its because, before that, i was too concerned with furthering my ability for the wrong reasons. now, because of you my entire outlook on parkour/freerunning has changed. i am now progressing faster than ever, and am happier than ever. A few weeks ago, my friend Jesse and I were asked to teach a pk/fr class in place of PE, and a lot of people are interested in it. and i dont think that wouldve happened if it werent for you.
so basically yeah, ur prolly my favorite. and i wanted to thank you also. so thank you. :)

Thank you! That means a lot to me, it truly does. I'm glad that I can inspire so many people. You're also welcome!
One thing I would suggest to you, is not to envy what I have, but to work towards it yourself. Once, you understand that you ARE able to get there, it'll become easier. Just train  :)

Well my favorite Freerunner is by far Neil Hutson. His video was the first real showreel I ever saw, I added him as a friend on facebook and he put up with a lot of questions via chat, lol.

Other tops on my list would be...
 - Andrew "Syn" Obenreder for his individual flow
 - Sascha "Cionn" Hauser because he's just a pure, staight-up beast
 - Pip "Piptrix" Andersen for his amazing acrobatics and power
 - Vinnie Coryell most dedicated person I've seen, he's acomplished so much in so little time too.

That's my top 5 :)

Thank you Cody. That's quite flattering. It means a lot to me when I'm able to inspire someone else.

But back on topic...
I honestly don't have a "favorite" traceur, traceuse, freerunner, ragefroobler, or anything or the sort. My team mates and friends as well as the communities that I've trained with are my favorite traceurs and traceuses.

Sanjuu Family:
Dylan Baker for him pushing me, his personal dedication for training, love of movement, and being an absolute beast, James Phillips for his power and dedication to training over the years , King David for his speed, fluidity, and dedication to movement, Daniel Arroyo for his absolute dedication, skill, and progression, Cody Beltramo for his power, fluidity, and love of taking me away from jams for team smoothie hunting missions, Logan Breitweiser for his sick acro/tricking, power, control, and mother who provides amazing food and beer, Pete Mckee for his amazing power, control, and scottish brotherhood, Devon Bardole for being an absolute powerhouse, acro/tricking beast, and all around funny person, Michaela Benthaus for her great power, control, fluidity, and being by far the best traceuse and friend, Mike Avery for his speed, power, and sick as flippage, Aaron Burns for his amazing dedication, love for movement, and down to earth mindset, Will James for his great power, control, dedication, sick videograophy, funny as hell, and for not getting the credit he deserves for being a beast, Alex Rodia for his dedication, control, videography skills, and being one of the funniest and most ridiculous people I know, John Reynolds for being the little brother, sick acro/tricking, and all around sick as hell, Michael Hartwig for his dedication, skill, and progression, Justin Sheaffer for his power, beastly acro/tricking, and our like-mindedness, Joe Thompson for being the other team baby, power, dedication, and absolute bro-ness, Chris Stevenson for his speed, control, fludity, and dedication, Cody Green his power, control, and sick acro/tricking, Ian Anderson for his dedication and um... just being Ian  ;D

Vinnie Coryell for his dedication, progression, and skill, Chad Zwadlo for being an absolute beast and a sick ragefroobler, Trever Floyd for his dedication and love for movement, Dan Lescher for his dedication, progession, and love for me  ;), Michael Clark for his dedication, flow, and progression, Travis Noble for his power, control, fluidity, and damn fun to train with, Paul Mederos for being Leon...period ;D, Mason Scarfone for his dedication, ridiculous progression, power, and for being a great friend, Julian Levy for his amazing progression, sick acro/tricking, and love of giant, greasy, but amazing Pittsburgh food, John Conway for his fluidity, power, control, skill, progression, and like-mindedness, Andrew Thruman for his amazing power, control, and outlook on Parkour (if he's still alive), Sam Magiske for pushing me over the years, his power, control, and beastlyness...

Oleg Vorslav, Daniel Ilabaca, David Belle, Sebastian Foucan, Alex Winslow, Phil Doyle, Liv Rowlands, Dim Monk, Drunk Monk, Pasha, Sascha Hauser, Gabe Nunez, David Elson, Brad Moss, Stuart Palmer, Max Runham, Stephane Vigroux, Chris Rowat, Johann Vigroux, Sebastien Goudot, Chau Belle Dinh, Laurent Piemontesi, Williams Belle, Yann Hnautra, Dan Edwards, Francois Mahop, Daer Sánchez, Sam Parham, Chase Armitage, Tim Shieff, Levi Meeuwenberg, Paul Joseph, John Kerr, Ryan Doyle, Matthew Willis, Ryan Cousins, Devin Martin, Wesley Schneider, Hunter Neiblum, Steve Dahlin, Jesus Crespo, Dan Teel, Noah Mittman, Billy Hughes, Michael Zernow, Brian Orosco, Laura Pelligrini, Ben Stampahar, Aadam LaPlante, Matt Barnes, Jerred Endsley, Dustin Evanetich, Ryan Ford, Paul Darnell, Jereme Sanders, Ozzi Quintero, Joseph Best, Ismael Oquendo, Rodney Wallace, Eugene Kuhn, Tyler Kelly, Tanya Smith, Dale Mcnew, Mohammed Sultan, Mike Metze, Daniel Mannino, Nick Kelly, Muhammad Howell, Sam Zytka, Dalton Amato ...and literally...every other Traceur and Traceuse I have trained with and that I haven't trained with.

Hey guys! This is Syn from PKFR International and the APK Alliance. Not sure what you guys had planned for GPK, but I had a few people contact me asking about if there was going to be a community website made. If you have plans on starting GPK as an online community of sorts and plan to pay for web hosting and a domain, let me know, as I'd be more than willing to help you guys with the graphic design and web design side of things free of charge.

You can contact me at syn@pkfrinternational.com

Anyways, love the idea and good job on what you guys got going on so far!
Hope to hear from you soon!

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Parkour "Competition" Ideas
« on: August 29, 2009, 11:24:57 AM »
I'll say this...
Parkour and Free Running, even as separate disciplines (which came from the some source) are both non-competitive, as stated by their founders and original practitioners. If they are going to become competitive, I would RATHER see something other than the next "Barclaycard World Championship" and something OTHER than your usual sports competition format. Maybe something where anyone who participates could be victorious, such as Ninja Warrior, or something of the sort. I really liked the obstacle course set-up out at APEX during the CO National Jam. Since there is no "BEST" I hate the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place set up and would like to see nothing else of the sort happen in the parkour community.

57
Well...
Here's my two cents for those of you that care.
I am part of two groups...
PKFR International and the APK Alliance.
Most of you know that PKFR International is anti-competition. PKFR International directors Dylan Baker, James Phillips, and myself have been working hard to prevent competition since the beginning and will continue to strive to keep parkour a non-competitive discipline rather than a competitive sport. There is "good competition" in parkour but it's competition within yourself to better yourself. The point is that since I have been working with APK, my views and principles about competition have NOT changed. But, what has changed is my faith in Mark and my fellow APK team mates. Their dedication to movement, their goals and principles, and experience help assure me that things will be alright in the long run and even if competition occurs, I think it will be done more responsibly, more respectfully, and less competitively than the Barclaycard World Championships and Redbull Art of Motion. I'm not going to sit here and say everything will be 100% perfect and that there won't be any loss or change but I'd rather have people I trust do something I'm against than have people I don't trust make things even worse!

As Will James would say, "PKFR OUT!"  ;D

58
I should be there.
