From everything it sounds like, he took great pains to ensure his safety. In the beginning stages of a discipline a person health and well-being is paramount, but as you progress further and further, that mindfulness of everything, that allowance of fear becomes a detriment on the road to truly mastering that discipline. At a certain point in a persons training, taking risks is the only way to proceed further down that path.

Parkour is no different, and like I said before he is getting into advanced stuff that goes against the accepted philosoph(y/ies) of parkour, but is still done by the more advanced practitioners.

Know that you will not have the backing of the entire PK community and just accept that. You're flying solo now, so trust yourself and trust your body. Good luck and stay safe.

That.

I'll also add that when I read the initial post I had a similar reaction to a lot of other people, that it was dangerous and a bad idea.  Perhaps Christopher could have saved himself some (I'm sure not all) razzing if he had included not only the information on what he accomplished but of his experience level and why he considered this a reasonable next step in his training.  A 13 year old kid just getting into parkour could have read that initial post and thought, "wow, that's so cool!  I'm going to try that!" because there was nothing in the post to differentiate Christopher from a noob.

Just like with videos of more advanced moves you should probably include prominent disclaimers and warnings so that those seeing it have some context and understand that you didn't just wake up one day and decide to do a roof jump.  They have to also know about all the work and training you put in before ever even considering something like this.
:-X

finally something that makes scence to me. people usally just bash me, but this actually has good reason

human spider- saw that video before, and the ppl below me was helpful. i was like 99% sure i wuld make the jump but i needed them in the case that i fell after making it like in the video, which would mean I would fall on my back making it easier to catch. and as you seid everything in pk is 'reckless'. So i dont see how it was a bad dissicion. it was less than 1 block from a hospital if anything did happen. plus i had permission from both people who owned the garage. ( Iknew them). I actually think it was one of the best dissiscions i ever made.

Look, we get people come in here weekly bragging about making impressive jumps and we really have it nail it hard about how dangerous that is.  An ego can kill you, literally.  Roof tops especially are incredibly dangerous.  Parkour is a dangerous activity, I won't lie about it.  We have to minimize whatever risks we can to ensure it is as safe as possible.  It is easy to think, "No not me," until it is you in a full body cast because you fell twelve feet into concrete.

You can fall into concrete? I guess maybe if it's freshly poured...

lol, not even you get stuck, lol

It doesn't matter if you've been practicing for a day or a year.  Big jumps are a bad idea.  If you were at the level that could take this type of jump there really wouldn't of been a risk.  So there isn't any possibly way you were ready for it.

Depends your meaning of ready for it. i was ready on the count of safty. I was read on the count of testing the jump. So lol.

W/E I didnt post this to be piled on.

Nothing.

Not Really.
I Learned To Conqour Fear.
I Learned to not under estimate myself.
I Learned To Constantly Train.
I Learned That I could rely on others.
I Learned That i can Go hard but Be Safe.
I Learned Not To Do Gaps That High Yet.

If You Ask me That Is Something.

but "you got to take risks"

you take risks everyday, doing parkour, doing anything.
I dont think it was reckless if i had about 10 people with me 3 being over the age of 30.

and i was fully confident i could make the jump. i dont see any reckless behavior in it. before i jumped it i vade sure i could make it on flat ground, and did went for it. i live right near a hospital if anyw=thing was to happpen. If i seid i did a backflip you could say it was reckless. So i dont see myself being 'reckless in that situation. plus people under my jump just in case i didnt make the jump they could attempt to catch me. but i guess ur right.....................

'i was very reckless and i am very sad about it' >:(

and if you say its reckless because of my skill level, then how am im supose to progress if i dont try?
