Really Great jams / WEDNESDAY Feb 13
« on: February 12, 2008, 12:08:43 PM »
We need to make individual posts about each training day so new people can check and see if we are going to be there or not, so please respond to these when you can.

Wednesday Training on the 13th: 3:45pm Harkins Theaters, Reno Avenue, bricktown, downtown Oklahoma City. I still can't make it yet.  Will anybody be there?

*Note: If you are new or unfamiliar here and you are reading this, if nobody responds to a post, it is probably better not to go unless you live nearby because you might waste a trip there and nobody might be there!!

I'm unsure if I'll be there; depends on how far I get on my architecture project.

Will you all be there?  Some folks have emailed the OKPK account and want to train.

Oklahoma / I'm FREE!!!
« on: January 26, 2008, 11:10:57 PM »
Folks, it's official!  I'm initiated!!!!  Which means, of course, I can do what I want on the weekends now and will hopefully be making it back to a lot of the jams again!!!

The only depressing fact is, I haven't been able to practice much lately so I'm like mad out of shape!!!  My endurance really sucks!

Edited: June 2, 2008:

This evening I went for a run.  I don't know how long it was, but I'd guess around 3-4 miles or so.  I'm out of shape unfortunately since I took off from training for several weeks :( .  I did some pull-ups and stuff too.

I recently bought a medicine ball.  I think there's potential with it. :)

Tomorrow I train parkour! :)

Movement / Rail to Rail Training
« on: December 13, 2007, 10:25:42 AM »
A while back I stumbled on a page that I think Demon made showing how to make a set of "rails" that go on the ground or carpet to allow training on rail-to-rail precisions without having to do so on actual rails first.

I've been looking for it but can't find it.  Can anybody post the link?  It'd be much appreciated.  Thanks a bunch!

Oklahoma / OKPK Website
« on: December 10, 2007, 08:54:50 AM »
The Oklahoma Parkour Association's website, www.oklahomaparkour.tk is managed by me.  It's been a while since I've updated it (around October), but I got on and revamped a few items and included a new video.

I'm going to try and keep it updated more often now, so be sure to keep checking it out every few days or weeks!

If you all have videos or pictures of Oklahoma parkour in action, then be sure to send them to administrationAToklahomaparkour.net .  (Replace the AT with @ --I do that so I don't get spam.)

Now go on over and check out the site!

Well, as you read in the 11-17 (or 11-15) thread, I didn't make it today.

But if anyone wants to go tomorrow (Sunday, 11-18) then I'll probably be there.

Parkour And Freerunning / Lack of Progression, Lack of Motivation
« on: November 09, 2007, 09:58:48 AM »
Hey guys.  I've been fairly active on these boards for the past several months.  I started parkour about 4-5 months ago, but not training correctly and regularly enough kept me from getting much better.  Now, I have gotten better, but I moved away to start college about 2 months ago, and I also joined a fraternity which has taken a lot of time committment.

My problem is this:  I have a severe lack of progression and motivation.  Every time I look at my 4-5 months I've spent on parkour, i see that, even knowing that parkour is about gradual slow progression, I am behind what level I could be at if I had trained properly and regularly.

Every time I read an inspirational parkour article or see a cool video like Vugluskr's summer video ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=Kyyiv0LoJTs )  I get super motivated about parkour again and I go out to train.  But then I realize my rolls aren't that great, so I start practicing and can't seem to get better...I get discouraged and end up walking around until I'm discouraged enough to just go home without getting much real training done.

I recently read Blane's Dilution article.  It seemed as though it was speaking at me, about people getting discouraged for not being as good as others.  That was encouraging, but still....it seems my practice isn't getting me any better.  Do you have any advice??

Really Great jams / Weekday Jam
« on: October 06, 2007, 08:49:13 AM »
Hey; I forgot it was the Czech festival on Saturday so I couldn't go.  But there's no way I'm going to waste this trip back to the city without doing some parkour.

You all want to do some Sunday or Monday?

Oklahoma / OKPK Picking Up Speed
« on: September 05, 2007, 02:09:50 PM »
We've had a LOT of email and form responses from Oklahoma traceurs and traceurs-to-be via the temporary OKPK website.

It looks like the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area has quite a few prospective people who want to get involved.  I am looking into possibly hosting a one-time or two-time jam to get things started, and then seeing about whether future activity could sustain itself.

It's a good thing to know there are so many people wanting to do parkour in Oklahoma!
