Don't worry, you're not the only one. I am clear over in Ohio.

I'm also from ohio, I don't have a job (not by choice) so if anyone has any ideas for places that hire 15 year olds, I'm pretty much up for anything

Injuries - Discussion / Re: Strange pain in my toes
« on: June 11, 2007, 06:30:50 AM »
I am aware of this, however, I have NO MONEY therefore I can't afford to go to the doctor for every little ache and pain. Basically what I was asking is if it's serious enough to worry about or if I could get off with just treating it like a stress fracture (staying off of it as much as possible)?

Injuries - Discussion / Strange pain in my toes
« on: June 11, 2007, 04:45:51 AM »
Okay, it feels almost like a stress fracture, but it dosen't hurt all the time when pressure is applied to it. So, when I walk sometimes (usually on concrete) my outer 4 toes hurt, my big toes are fine so I usually just put all of my weight on those while walking, so is it a stress fractuse? if not, what could it be?

Injuries - Discussion / Re: Stress Fracture of the Foot

Yes, wait untill the pain has fully subsided, I had stress fractures in my feet last month, all I did was rest...it sucked. But, yeah, wait for the pain to fully subside and the ease back into your regular activity speed. (It sure teaches you to condition better don't it? lol)  ;)

Parkour / Re: Roll help
« on: June 08, 2007, 03:40:35 AM »
I gonna go ahead and "piggy-back" this thread by adding a new question. I've been doing parkour for about a month now, and my rolls are far from perfect (a work in progress lol) my questions is this, sometimes when I roll (annoyingly it's usually my first roll of the day) my leg gets caught at an angle when I'm coming out of it so like my foot hits (usually side of the foot) and then the leverage kinda pushes my knee to the outside, it hurts a little, not much though, and I don't hear a crack or anything when it does it. I've been told by Muse_of_Fire that ballet would help with the stabilizer muscles in my knee that would help prevent that, but are there any alternatives? (there aren't any ballet classes near here)

Do you think it'd be a prblem for my dad that he has a pretty bad knee? What with the walking from area to area (at the colleges is my primary concern)?

Injuries - Discussion / Proper progression
« on: June 07, 2007, 10:34:16 AM »
I was wondering how to tell when you're ready to progress with your (for example) landings to avoid injury, also, how do you tell if your foot may have a minor injury? (my toes hurt when I walk) and how long of a break should you take between drills? Speaking of drills, are there any drills you know of that could help avoid stress fractures etc.?

Okay, I got my mom's definition of "designated adult" it has to be someone she knows (therefore another traceur is out of the question) and it has to be a chaperon to watch me all the time...I might see if my dad will do it

That sounds great, although I don't think there's anywhere near here that eaches it  :( BUT, From what I've gathered you're going to the jam right? Would you be able to work with me on it a little bit while we're there? I'm sure even a little would help....

Wow, I didn't think to tell her about the adults that will undoubtedly be there, lol silly me. I'm not sure if it's weather she wants someone with me the whole time or what, but I'm sure that with the large turnout of the jam there will always be people around watching me lol. It may or may not make her feel better about a teacher being there...she dosen't really agree with public schools much, but I'll trow it in there just in case. And I'm 15

WOW, thanks for all your help guys! It's been much appreciated, and to answer your question lol, I posted this in the fitness section because at first I planned on only asking about the training part of the post but lol I got to rambling on lol. I can't wait to get there, I will need to get a job to save up some money but that shouldn't be too big of a problem, my mom said I can't go unless I have a "responsable adult" coming with me, lol so if anyone would like to volenteer to be my designated adult lol (I live in central ohio btw). And you had a great idea on setting a goal to reach before I go! I will definitely do that, I look forward to meeting you guys there, I've been training on my own the entire time I've been doing parkour so it'd be nice to meet some fellow aspiring traceurs  ;) Thanks again for the help

So, I was drilling my rolls, and I did one wrong, and my leg was at an angle towards the end of the rol, and my knee tried to bend towards the outside of my leg, I'm aware that I should RICE it and keep off of it, but any tips to prevent this in the future?

« on: June 05, 2007, 05:08:52 PM »
So, I was wanting to go to the jam in colorado, but I have a few questions. First question is, I'm wanting to train to make sure that I don't get totally left behind by the better traceurs (I'm a beginner, I've been doing parkour for about a month and a half) and also so that I can enjoy the spots more. And secondly What all is provided by the planners of the jam? what should I bring? what should I expect to pay for? an most importantly, how do I sign up? do I sign up? or just go? thank you for your help ;D
