Injuries - Discussion / Re: Barefoot Running Blisters

Whelp, I used the salt, I was disappointed, it didn't burn at all, though it might be because the blisters are like 2-3 days old, also, I had a hard time getting the salt to stay in there. Nonetheless I will continue using it on all blisters from here on out (using salt makes me sound tough like you Steve lol)

[EDIT] lol it started burning a little while I was typing the last message ;D not the sweltering god save me kinda burn I was hoping for...but not bad lol good on ya Steve, what else can you use salt for? cuts? scrapes? OH THE POSSIBILITIES! lol thanks again for the idea ;)

True, it's also efficient, I mean, why fly back to the ground when you can fall? it's faster lol

I was thinking about trying it, haven't really looked into it much though. how old do you have to be to try it? I bet it'd crush any fear of heights right out of you! :P

I picked a trick up off a post from cheetah, I take a Styrofoam cup and fill it with water, and the freeze it, the cup makes it be warmer on you hand since it doesn't let all the cold out and it's very easy to apply to any part of your body, just peel off the rim of the cup and run it over where it hurts, after I do all of my training for the day I ice my shins, ankles, feet, and knees with it, wake up feeling fresh as a daisy ;D also, try doing shin raises and walking on just your heels for as long as you can stand, it'll help you to strengthen your shin muscles thereby taking much of the pressure off of your bone ;) and finally, try barefoot running, it heals things like shin splints, jumpers knee etc. Try the pose method, it works best for me (after your first run, check out the barefoot running blisters thread, you'll thank me for it lol) Good luck with your healing, shin splints are a pain in the butt, I heard eating bananas also helps, not sure if this is true or not, but I'm trying everything to get rid of mine lol

If the salt burns as much or maybe slightly more than the alcohol I might give is a shot, is there a certain kind of salt you'd recommend? also, I feel like the burn on the alcohol subsides after a minute, my guess is it runs past the blister lol does the salt chill out after a couple few seconds?

Okay, here's what I'm doing to treat mine. I drain the blister and cut away most of the dead skin with cuticle clippers, and then I splash some rubbing alcohol on them and put one of these on each blister (I have one on the ball of each foot) http://www.drugstore.com/qxp79971_333181_sespider/band_aid/advanced_healing_blister_cushions.htm
it works really well, it's not as hard to walk as it is with a regular band-aid, it helps heal them faster and also it's waterproof! lol I apply the alcohol 2x a day as advised by MoF

Damn, MoF's rubbing alcohol trick really does burn like hell lol I almost broke the towel bar in the bathroom lol So if you try it, find something indestructible to hold onto, personally I pushed up against the walls in the bathroom, but find what works for you lol

I lost my editing software that came with my camera (I think my brother threw it away). Would anyone be willing to help me make a video? I can get the clips I just can't put them together. It would be greatly appreciated.

I think I may have pinpointed the cause of the pain. Does anyone know of some stretches for you feet and toes? also, do you know of anything you can do for your tendons in your feet (i.e. stretch them, exercise them etc.)?

Okay I guess I got the t-shirt saying wrong, apparently it's Unleash your inner monkey. Either way, the same principle applies

Crap, I ran out of time for edit.

Look at urban freeflow's t-shirt that says UNLEASH THE MONKEY WITHIN key word UNLEASH not guide it towards what your crazy imagination precieves, let it run free, just have fun and stop worrying about weather what you're doing is in violation of some nerd's belief, have your own belief, Forge Your Own Path!

I agree with you guys, I see parkour and freerunning as the same when it comes to movement. I believe the only difference between the two is the mindset, if you want to focus on efficiency or looking cool. But no matter what you refer to yourself as, we're all guilty of showing off once or twice ;). Also, look at David Belle, in most of his videos you see him do at least one backflip or something, and yet he never says he does freerunning nor does he claim to be a freerunner. So I believe that dividing the two and saying you follow one not the other is just like doing the same with being catholic or christian, they're both the same for the most part, they just have a select few differences. So, STOP WORRYING ABOUT IF IT'S FREERUNNING OR PARKOUR, it's all the same, just go out and do what you want, don't limit yourself by religiously following one or the other.
