Tricking / Novice help
« on: July 10, 2012, 10:39:18 AM »
Hey everyone. I just got into tricking a couple days ago. I'm starting with the b-kick. I have the movement down perfectly but what's bugging me is I can't get my first leg up high. It always ends up at or just below back level, while my second leg arches up like it's supposed to. Any tips?

Movement / All the different kinds of rolls
« on: July 03, 2012, 12:31:28 PM »
I've got the forward roll down pretty well, but now I want to branch out. Specifically, the backwards roll, sideways roll, and diving versions of the forward and side rolls. Any tips, advice, or other such pieces of invaluable information?

Using nerve gliding I found the problem. Somehow I've pinched my ulnar nerve. Does this mean I need to see a specialist about fixing it?

Update: I was doing pull up pauses and after holding a pull up for ten seconds I lowered myself down an I REALLY felt the ache. I think I'll just take it easy for a couple days and then see if it gets better.

Well that sucks. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that because I'll start losin conditioning. But I know from experience that tendonitus sucks because I had it in my right forearm. I'll give it a week but I'll keep going with lowerbody and core conditioning

Injuries - Discussion / Arm ache

Well I really have all kinds of little aches and pains but if I put them all down it'd fill a book. What I'm here about is the only one that concerns me. It just started a couple of days ago. When I do a lot of upper body exercises and movements, my left arm gets a deep, dull ache. It starts on the inside of my elbow, wraps around to the back of my elbow, then up my tricep to my shoulder. My hand also starts to tremble slightly. Ice doesn't make it better but rest does. It feels like it's in the bone. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Movement / Vault Help
« on: June 12, 2012, 12:30:48 AM »
I have multiple vault questions here:

Lazy vault: I can't seem to get my other hand down fast enough so I always end up doing these vaults with one hand only. Advice?

Speed vault: I nail it every time with my right side but I can't manage to do it with my left over anything other than a waist high rail. Advice on non-dominant proficiency?

Dash vault: Any advice on progressions to work up to a dash vault? Also, tips on swinging my legs around, doing a sort of lazy dash vault over a table?

Kong vault: I can do it on a little two foot block but there's no intermediary from that to a picnic table, which is all I have to work with. Advice for kong progressions?

I know that's a lot but many thanks in advance.

Parkour And Freerunning / Help with running
« on: March 05, 2012, 12:33:34 AM »
Does anyone have any advice on how to improve running speed and form? I can run well, but not "fast", and after a point every step feels like I'm thudding the ground or jolting myself, like I'm not running right.

Parkour / Need help with climbing and upper body power
« on: January 01, 2012, 04:14:17 PM »
I've been training for about five months now, and I'm in the army, so that supplements what I've been doing. But I've been having trouble with climbing strength and overall upper body power. I have a lot of upper body strength, but I need to work on power. You know, putting out almost all that strength in the shortest amount of time for explosive movements. Does anyone have any advice on exercises to increase strength and power?

Parkour / Sliding
« on: December 30, 2011, 02:45:33 PM »
I've recently been playing Splinter Cell Conviction, which has a very dynamic portrayal of parkour, and yes, I realize it's just a game.

But does anyone know if it's possible to do the sliding techniques that Sam executes in-game? Such as when he slides into cover and under obstacles. It looks effortless and smooth, yet he does it on a variety of surfaces, like concrete and gravel.

Also when he slides across the tops of tables and cars and the like, are there any tricks or techniques to do that that I could incorporate?

General Fitness / Bodyweight Conditioning
« on: October 15, 2011, 01:23:40 PM »
My friend and I are trying to become conditioned for parkour in preparation for joining the Army. We have about six months before we leave for basic, and we want to be in excellent shape before we get there, so there's less hassle.
To than end, I told him we should do a monday/wednesday/friday schedule of upper body/lower body/core days. Does anyone have any recommendations for efficient, continuous progress and improvements in terms of fat loss and muscle/functional strength gains?
I understand that a large part of our success will be our diet, which we've already starting eating healthier with fruits, vegetables, and meats.
Does anyone have an routines they can put together for a monday/wednesday/friday schedule, or if you have any other, better ideas, feel free to post them.
     Thank you all in advance.
