Does b-twist screw everyone else's back to? My back hurt for an entire day after I tried.

Does this mean I'm doing it incorrectly, or does it just happen to everyone?

learn how to do a tornado kick, then do that horizontally, then do it off of your other leg
i'll try making a btwist tutorial this week

Tornado kick is my best kick so far, I'm just trying to get a good 540.

Though yesterday I gave a butterfly twist a chance and I almost landed my first one. I'm going to try again later today when it's not so hot.

I just made this b-kick tutorial like an hour ago, hope it helps

I threw in a Slo-Mo clip at the end, in case you are more of a visual learner

Thanks for the video Grip, I'm going to go outside and try your tips out.

My question is, once I've gotten a good enough butterfly kick, how do I move into a butterfly twist?

4
practice standing bkick before using the run up method, dip more. and no your not ready for btwist just yet more practice  :)

Alright, I'll be sure to do some more from just a standing position.

I usually do do them from a standing position, I just decided to try to do the run up method because I was outside for once.

Tricking / My somewhat "improved" butterfly kick, I need help and tips.

Is it a pretty solid butterfly kick? Am I ready to move onto a b-twist? If so, what are the best ways to start?

Great job walking down those stairs, you're awesome!

And little kids are so funny, haha...

Freerunning / Side Flip
« on: June 15, 2011, 08:03:07 PM »
Well, I've been practicing front flips a lot and I've managed to be able to land them 90% of the time, so I decided to work on something else.

I haven't quite gotten enough balls to try a back flip, so I decided to try a side flip.

Unless I'm doing it way wrong, it's a LOT easier then a front flip... Well, it felt like it.

I started tonight and I already managed to land one. It wasn't a pretty landing, but I still landed it. I'm going to be working on these for the next couple of weeks, then I might try a back flip.

Edit: I'll probably post a video tomorrow showing what I have so far.

Freerunning / Re: Front flip

This happened to me when I first started doing front flips. First it was my back and then it was my butt, now I land them 90% of the time.

Just be sure to take that little one step hop, land on two feet, jump a bit forward but mostly upwards and then tuck hard.

I found it better to physically grab my knees when tucking, it helped me out a lot.

Texas / Fate Texas

Well, I'm moving to Fate Texas next month and I was wondering if there is anyone that trains near there or if there are any classes, gyms and things that are for parkour / freerunning.

If you have any information, please let me know!

What am I doing wrong? What could I improve?

I really want to get this down that way I can learn the butterfly twist.

It says the video was removed. Do you live in Colorado? I'm only asking because the title said Colorado... something or other.

Gymnastics is a huge bonus to free running and tricking, even parkour. It helps so much with strength, agility, and endurance. If I didn't come from a gymnastics background, I probably would have given up a while ago. This isn't to say you can't learn without it; most DO learn without coming from gymnastics. It's simply a bonus, and probably a lot safer lol. If you have the opportunity and willingness, sign yourself up for it. You wouldn't regret it.

I'm thinking about looking into gymnastics class because like you said, it's probably a big plus... I just don't know if I'm too old now... I mean, I see little kids doing gymnastics and what not. Do a lot of kids start gymnastics in their teenage years as opposed to being like, 5?

I've been practicing front flips lately and today I landed four front flips on my mattress that I practice on.

My landing isn't pretty since I haven't learned to untuck yet, but I landed them nonetheless and the mattress makes it harder since it's like a foot off the ground.

FAQ / Is gymnastics experience required in order to be good at flips?
« on: June 03, 2011, 01:48:21 PM »
Is doing gymnastics pretty much required in order to be good at doing flips and what not? Obviously it's probably the safer way to learn, but can you learn to do things well enough without having to do gymnastics?

Four days and it still gives me a 404 error. :\

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: How do I get past this?
« on: February 16, 2011, 08:38:09 PM »
Have you ever asked yourself "Why do I train Parkour?" ?

Some are in it for the fun, some are in it for the lifestyle.

I don't want to judge, but it seems like you only like to train with friends, therefore, you just want to do exciting moves with them. Do you?

My goal is to be physically fit along with the parkour lifestyle.

It's fun to though, if it wasn't, I wouldn't have any interest in it.

Parkour And Freerunning / How do I get past this?
« on: February 16, 2011, 08:23:50 PM »
I'm young and I've taken a great interest in Parkour. Sometimes I'll be on the computer and see a video of someone that inspires me to start training, which I do... For only a couple of days though. I'll eat well, exercise almost everyday and overall do what needs to be done over the course of those couple of days, but then I always end up stopping after those couple of days and then I'm so disappointed. How do I get over this hump? When I had a few friends training with me, I was even more inspired and I didn't stop for several weeks, but then they did... Now I'm training by myself and I just don't feel good when I'm doing all of this myself.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
