Parkour And Freerunning / Re: The Worst Parkour Situation
« on: September 10, 2010, 12:21:17 PM »
IM not hating, but seems alot of younger people have been posting here. Im not your parents(only 18), but ive read several threads about how if you put to much stress on your body(like parkour) your can stunt your growth. so i would suggest conditioning. just keep that in mind guys if you want to be doing parkour into your old(er) age.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: kids these days...

Im only a freshmen in college but that is how i was raised, respectful. Actually a couple friends and i were talking about this recently. I remember when i was young if highschooler talked to you, you were instantly popular. My senior year, i noticed people as young as fifth graders cussing, dissing and generally janking on the upper class men like they owned the place. this is an outrage, they dont even respect there parents. I guess im to into the new age and my kids are gonna be like that to, though, cause i cant put my finger on what went wrong, except maybe pop culture

Movement / Re: suckish wall run
« on: September 04, 2010, 07:55:52 AM »
What is this about telling him to buy shoes, thats stupid. i run with walmart brand and i can hit a 10 ft wall easy. (fyi- im about 5 foot 7).

I could be doing it wrong, but i have never swung my knee. Nor has any of the experienced traceurs i've trained with suggested it.

However, i have always been taught to swing my arms upwards as i jump and push off the wall. Bring your arms back just before you start bringing your leg up to plant on the wall. Then as you jump and plant your foot swing your arms upwards, you are running to get on top i presume so why not have your arms up in the air anyways.

Another thing is how you approach the wall. I know back in highschool when kids saw me running up a wall they would get 30 feet away and then try to run up it, epic fail. then to show off(i dont recommend unless you know for sure you can do it(but even then dont do it often)) I would stand a few steps from the same wall and run up it,epic win. dont get to far away or too close, as in my example until you can do it medium. just get about 10 ft away and jog not run. as you approach the wall as in a few steps away, then accelerate. Hope that helps

Movement / Re: Dash Vault - Leaning Backwards
« on: September 04, 2010, 07:38:36 AM »
Hey i am no expert, but when i learned it, all i had was a picnic table. If you are saying you cant do number three, then i can help. When i learned the dash, i would run and land in that sitting, but then immediately  push back up with my hands to clear the table. From there i worked on landing on the table with less impact, by landing more with my hands and less with my legs, until I was hitting with my palms and tip toes. Finally just pulled my legs up more and i had the dash.
