For me personally its good music and a strong will, giving up is not an option.
But really it can be anything, watch some good pk vids, or just think of sometime in your life you did something you thought you couldnt do. Be cocky, but not arrogant.

Parkour And Freerunning / Custom tailored parkour outfit design
« on: June 23, 2012, 11:59:33 AM »
i dont know about anyone else but ive been wanting to come up with a custom parkour outfit for a year now, not just for style, but also for function as well. I want something for all seasons, not just one. So i wanna run my design by and see if its a good idea or not.

My design starts with a tight fitting hoodie, i want the sleeves to be zip offs and on the sleeves a zip on place for gloves. The hood will be zip off as well, but it will also have something to cover your face that can be attached by some buttons or whatnot, so when winter comes by your face wont freeze. Thats all mostly the winter part of the design, so for the warmer seasons you can detach the sleeves, or leave them half on, what ever works. I personally like one earbud in while i run, so i want to integrate a wireless earbud into it and a spot to tightly hold my mp3 player, so i want to add something that keeps it attached to my upper or lower arm. For the pants I want padding to make shinguards, but that might get in the way. So what do you guys think? Is it a good idea? Or just a senseless waste of money?

Im not saying blindly fight for something, just to be aware of it. maybe like research it, anyways idk why it just now exploded when its been happening for years, probably cause of the actual video. also not saying donate anything.... that part is kinda dumb, they really cant do anything and if we do go to war for them we'd be shooting ten year olds.

not really the activist type but something has to be done, to figure out what i mean look up kony 2012 on youtube and watch the first video that pops up. it may be long but trust me its bad. so do what you can to raise awareness to stop kony, its good for all the people hurt and the pk community

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Training in Winter/Snowy conditions

you should try sliding down a slanted rail with your hand, like a speed vault but your sliding down while your doing it. ive tried it in the rain and it was epic. i feel your pain though, winter is rolling in here too, its not snowing but i keep hearing about how its supposed to snow at night, oklahoma is great for all weather conditioning! i would say that this is what is ok to practice flips in but ive tried it and the snow just keeps you from landing right, cept i didnt try long enough. be creative and have fun, just watch out for anything thats iced over..... like stairs O.o ive slipped down a flight of those before. hey is there eskimo parkour? like pk specifically meant for snow and ice? that'd be great to hone. watch your hands too, they get cold real fast if you dont stop moving

i forgot how awesome and deep the pk and fr community could be. i get wht you guys are saying now lol, i have a thick skull. i do love what i do, it makes me feel better about who i am and what ive done with my life. to where i could have been a hopeless drunk wastiod i studied and trained, cept after a while i stopped training because i lost the guy i trained with to a college. recently i started teaching others and i started to get back into shape, my form really didnt lose much either, after months of not practicing. but i get how i should be my own person and strive for what i want not others. just bummed out because the only other traceur friend i had moved away T_T

This, and this:

I ran track too and loved every minute of it. It wasn't as much of a challenge for me though, even running at state level because everyone else was either so ridiculously fast that I stood no chance, or slower than me so that I was running not to win, but to not get beat. Parkour is constantly adapting, so it stays a challenge for anyone who wants to make it a challenge. There are going to be people better than you, something to strive for, and people who are the same skill level as you, someone to "compete" with in a way. I'm not saying you have to compete with someone to get better, just that it helps to be on the same level as someone and to try and stay with them.
O.o thats actually a really good answer, thanks for the help. ive been out of the game for a long while, guess all i have to do now is practice as hard as i can. ill do it the marine way and go until i drop, not literally.

i have no idea how you guys all stay so determined, i mean i flourished in track on the 800m dash and i was 1 place off from going to state but practicing percisions gives me more of a workout than i got in my athletics class. basically what this is about is how do you guys stay so determined and confident? really i wanna know because it seems i may be missing something. sorry for being vague or idiotic for asking this.

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Where would you be without parkour?
« on: March 07, 2011, 05:09:44 PM »
Me without parkour is like getting a new game system 14 years before the games come out, you know there's potential buuuuuut you just can't see how to use it, I would be that scrawny little kid in my avatar still, i would be very unintelligent since parkour has opened new windows to learning for me. I would be anti-social still, and play wow for days, I would be just another person without it, more of a hollow person with no life, i still have no life but at least i know how to live  ;D
Oh and I would be around 5 pairs of shoes and 3 pants richer  8)

1. nah i try to explain but just walk away if they try to make fun of me
2. It would never upset me because i don't do flips in the street, only in the grass because i tried the street and got hurt xD
3. the category one actually bugs me a lot, i have a group of 3 traceurs currently at my school and we get constantly tossed around as ice breakers, like "hey look at those dumb@$$e$ why would you WANT to jump over a table in the first place" ehh but all in all who cares? I've heard this one tossed around on the forums and i hate to sound like a broken record or something but "haterz gonna hate"

I've learned that when its all snowy and icy I have the advantage  ;D
I almost mastered controlling my sliding while running, now to learn to slide when vaulting properly x_X i think it may hurt but oh well i'll be all numb as it is xD

ice is still ice
either get some ice skates or invest in furry boots and walk
lol or don't train on ice, or invent a winter pk shoe. I'd buy it if it worked, like promoted balance and little to no slipping but thats just a dream for now.
