yep, I just checked it out and signed up for the newsletter, thanks for the link  :)

As for the groups, I checked out the NYPK website and they offer beginner's classes. I e-mailed for more info so hopefully they'll respond soon. I'm a little nervous about meeting up and practicing with people until i get the basics (such as the roll) down, cause I probably wouldn't be able to do much til I can land, but im certainly willing to try.

As for the groups in my area, I snooped around the forums a bit and it seems like most groups are in northern Jersey, which is far from me (This is from the main forums, i haven't looked much under the specifics forums yet, so maybe there are closer groups listed here, I'll need to check though). I don't have my license yet, and my parents barely ever want to drive me to the mall 15 minutes away, let alone an hour to meet up with other traceuses. Maybe when I get better and they see I'm serious about it, but til then I'm stuck within a 30 min drive radius lol  :P Doesn't help living in what could possibly be the most rural part of NJ (not much to practice on), but you make do.  ;)

Hey everyone!  ;D

I'm Rachel. I'm from Jackson/Freehold area in NJ, 16 years old, and a total beginner at Parkour. Some sports I do/did are: distance running for track (though I'm out atm due to an injury that's healed now, but seasons practically over), going to sign up for x-country my senior year, and was fencing since i was 13 (stopped due to money issues and not enjoying competing). Currently, I run on the treadmill for 3 miles or so each day, practice vaults and rolls, as well as other beginners moves, and *attempt* to lift some weights to build upper body strength.

I'm pretty excited about PK. I love the idea of just being free and being able to overcome any obstacles with quick, efficient movements. Even the philosophy of PK being an art and not a sport is great.  :) Its something that forces you to train your body AND mind, which is rare in the world of fitness today.

I'm glad to see that there ARE other girls into PK. I just started training about 2 days ago, and from all the tutorials and videos I've seen on youtube, i have yet to see any with girls in them, so its nice to find out that there are other girls interested in it. If anyone ever wants to meet up and train, I don't know any advanced moves, and am still trying to learn the basics, but i work hard and push myself, so PM me or send an e-mail. Good luck everyone, keep on running!  ;)

Name: Rachel
Age: 16
Location: Millstone (pretty much unheard of, but its on the border between Freehold and Jackson), NJ

Saw some awesome vids on youtube and i thought id give it a shot. I don't have any background in gymnastics or martial arts or anything, but i do run (x-country and long distance in track & field), so i figured it was time to take it up a notch. Parkour seems intense and awesome, and im pretty excited for it, so im glad i could join the APK forums and talk to others with the same interests  :)

ps- im also a new to using forums, so hopefully i wont mess up or embarrass myself too badly lol.
