Pretty decent.  Especially since I don't start until Tuesday.  :P

How about you come on Saturdays with Leausm and myself?  It'll be tons of fun plus I guarantee that you will be challenged beyond what you normally do.  We're trying for every Saturday at 6:00 to 9:30 (or until we are finished) so come if you can.  That goes for anyone actually.  If you want to go, just post it on here that you are coming.

I hate to repeat what everyone's been telling you, but really, you need to see a doctor.  Look at it this way, you can not go to a doctor, have things get either worse or better - no telling which one - and potentially find yourself losing control while you're driving or doing something else that could be fatal.  OR you could go to a doc, find out what the problem is, keep on living but with a bit of debt.  So pretty much you have the option now to gamble with your own life, or work for some time to pay of your doctor bills.  The choice is up to you, but all of us on here want you to stay alive and well.

So a friend of mine and I were out practicing on some rails at school during our open period one day.  After we had finished up and were back inside, a security guard nicely told us to not go on them again.  Awhile later we decided to ask him why, but we couldn't find him and instead found another security guard.  So, we asked him and he ended up being extremely understanding.  He told us to draw up a list of things we want to use, how we're going to use them, and then he would talk to the guy in charge about it all.  We did that and he truly is interested and understanding.  He gave us some suggestions on how we can get this thing rolling, and he also said that it would be neat if we could perform for the school at an assembly as a kind of recruitment.  The chances of this thing actually getting off the ground are slim, but the chances of getting permission to use the school as a practicing area are actually fairly high.  Just wanted to let everyone know and see what you all thought.

Injuries - Discussion / Re: Fallen arch

I don't know about the pain you described, but I do know this.  If you have pain, it is probably important.  Well, actually, it is important in any situation.  Pain is your body telling you something is wrong or different.  So you should definitely get that checked out.

My Vibrams are AMAZING!!!  They correct your walking form and also eliminate the problems that normal shoes create (such as a padded heel, upturned toes, rolling steps, and arch support).  I have noticed that my feet are stronger than they used to be since I started wearing them.  These 'shoes' are also supposed to correct some of the conditions people have with their feet and knees.  I definitely recommend buying a pair.  The only drawbacks are that they are expensive, you probably want socks with them (TRUST me on this one, they smell without) - which are also expensive, and they have a 'pocket' that seems to collect debris when you land in a bunch of loose stuff.  Other than that, they are amazing.

Cause I can't drive him.  My wrists and knees are worse than they've been in quite some time and I really don't think I should put myself in a situation where I will be tempted to do anything with them.  So, I can't go.  Sorry about that.

Injuries - Discussion / Re: Not Necessarily an Injury But... (Foot)
« on: April 26, 2009, 06:45:13 PM »
Here's my take on this issue.

"My personal recommendation is that you fix your flat feet by strengthening your feet - EVERY part of them.  Walk around barefoot, stretch your feet, write the alphabet with a pencil held in between your toes, grab things with your toes, massage your feet, and do odd exercises with your feet (like standing on one foot, lifting up your big toe all the way, and turning your body inwards toward that foot).  What is good about all of these exercises is that they can only help you instead of maybe doing some good and maybe doing some bad."

Do a search on this.  You'll find plenty of great information.  Plus, you'll find out that inserts and orthotics aren't the answer.

But, it'd better be, say, later on a nice, happy Sunday, after church. Without that, I don't know if I could get myself to go in and help.
And even more, why the heck would I be training alone? I don't do ANYTHING alone in the city (because I'm one of those unlucky newbie traceurs that's stuck living in a rural area).

I created the scenario in the city so that it would apply to more people.  But I know exactly what you mean - I also am one of those people who lives outside of the city with little material to practice with.

I'm glad to see that people actually have thought this one through instead of just saying 'kill him' or 'wouldn't bother'.  This is probably the best part about Traceurs:  they actually THINK instead of just DO.

Ok, back to the original subject.  After a bit of research, I found out that some forms of vigilantism are not illegal.  Citizen arrests are within the bounds of vigilantism and if a vigilante sees someone being mugged/robbed/gang-banged/etc. then it is fine for them to intervene.  What is technically called a vigilante is someone who takes the law into their own hands.  So, as long as someone operates within the laws of society, they are fine.  Which brings into question - what would you do in this situation?

You are practicing in one of your favourite spots when you hear a muffled yell.  You look around and see someone getting pulled into an alley about 20 metres away.  After another look around, you can't see anyone else even remotely near you.  You have a cell-phone so you naturally dial 911.  You tell the police where this questionable activity is happening.  While on the phone, you have been moving into a position where you can see what is happening.  You see that there is a man with his back against the alley wall and another man beating the pulp out of him.  Neither of them can see you because they are too focused on each other.  You now have the option to do one of two things:  wait for the police to show up (probably a two minute wait), or intervene by yourself.  What do you do?

(Obviously, this question doesn't exactly apply to an 11 year old boy or a young girl, but anyone with the physical skill and strength required should ask themselves this question.)

Insoles necessitate the constant use of insoles.  If you want to use them for the rest of your life, go ahead, but if you don't, I suggest you strengthen your feet, ankles, and toes.  Oh, by the way, if you're just starting, the best thing you can do is progress SLOWLY.  Jump off a single stair (about 6-8 inches) about 50 good times before moving up to the next one.  Each landing should be silent.  Also, drops are extremely damaging to your body.  If you can find a way around the drop, then take the roundabout manner.  If not, don't jump anyways.  It isn't worth the effects it has on your body.

Just to let you know, I won't be here during the summer because I'll be in Romania.  If my people show up at this Jam on May 2nd, I would suggest getting their info because most of them don't use APK - though I've tried to change that.

Potential Vigilantes
Or
Super Heroes without the need of powers.

So I've been thinking.  What if something big happened?  Like all the power in the US gets cut off or something like that.  An almost inevitable reaction that the general public would have is to get into a group mentality and riot, pillage, steal, etc. for whatever they feel they need.  Who is going to stop them from crossing the line?  What could the PKFR community do in this situation?  This is something that we've been preparing for, so why not?  Become the 'Watchmen' of the real world.  Truly, I believe that this is a way that the PKFR community could go.  Imagine - a crowd has gathered at the base of a building with a person precariously hanging from it some thirty feet up.  Then, out of nowhere a traceur shows up, climbs up to the person, secures a rope, and helps them down.  Or perhaps there is a gunman and the police are tangled up with another incident on the other side of the city.  As the gunman ushers his hostages into a room, a traceur drops down with a gravity kick on his fore-arms (putting the gun in a safe position) and takes him down before the police even show up.

You might have a skin condition that is based on heredity and not diet.  If it bothers you a lot, see a doc or more specifically a dermatologist.  The ankle problems are fairly vague.  Is there any other background to that?

Do you plan on coming to the Jam?  If so, whereabouts do you live so that one of us can pick you up.

The only problems I see with the three day thing is that my parents would probably only allow me to do the Saturday and for Sunday, many of us go to church so we wouldn't be able to make it any earlier than one o'clock.

So that everyone knows what to expect, how many people does each person plan on bringing?  I hope to bring six people including myself.  Also, are we doing this at Boise High?  I ask these questions because I don't want this Jam to fall through like the last one I was involved with.
