Haven't thought of any goals yet. I just figured I'd get back to keeping a daily regimen and get fit. Well, I guess that's a goal for you- not very specific though. :) Sorry!

My old regimen was 15min. stretches + 25 pushups + 100 sit-ups + 30-60min. cardio, and whatever else I could fit in during the day wether it be more cardio or sit-ups, stretches, you name it.

Then later in the year I got caught up in my academics at the U and couldn't keep up with the fitness since I was taking about 14 full-time classes. I've got some more spare time now so I'll be getting back to the gym and working out more, and I'll start to set more pen and paper number goals for myself, as well as parkour goals for when I work out some nice spots to do some parkour in on the campus. I've seen a handful of very good areas, but haven't really put any of them into consideration for practice.

I've never really kept a training log. I'll look at a few others and get a better idea of what more to put down.

That night I did 19 max-effort pushups. My arms were a bit sore from the night before though so that cut out some of my ability, but hey no pain no game. I'm still re-conditioning myself after slacking for a few years. I'll get back in the swing of things. I did some jumping jacks, more stretches, practiced balance... Can't do as much in an empty living room at home but now that I'm back on campus I think I'll hit the gym and get some quality work done.

Name: Steve
Start Date: November 28th, 2008

I put the starting date as yesterday because that's when I made the decision to start conditioning myself, working out more, training, etc to get into parkour. Although there's not much at my mom's apartment to do parkour practicing on, there's plenty of time and space to work out. So as soon as I said this last night, I decided to test my will power and dropped to start pushups. I haven't done much in a while, and I wasn't really keeping track of numbers, I was just getting myself motivated to rekindle my old habit of good daily regimens.

I actually didn't start with push-ups, sorry, I lied. I did some nice stretches from head to toe. Just some old stretches from back when I did martial arts and marching band which have sort of stuck to me for a while. They're good though, I get every muscle in my back/arms/legs/feet/hands stretched out. Gives some nice flexibility. Anyway after that was done, I dropped for pushups.

I didn't stay on the ground too long. It was more of a measure of how many I could keep up before tiring out. I did 10 - 10 - 10 regular pushups, then 10 - 5 pushups elevated with clapping, then a long round of sit-ups.
After that I did some nice leg stretches, then got down for leg lifts (I forgot the exact name, you lay with your hands near your tailbone and lift your legs up and down)... I didn't keep count, but I did them consecutively for about 30-45 seconds at a time, with a small break between sets.

Did some jumping jacks, some hand grip excersizes, general cardio to keep my heart rate up, some cool-down stretches, and that was that. It was nice to get back in the swing of things.

Once I get back to campus after the weekend I'll start working on more, and I'll also have 3 gyms and a heated pool at my disposal. :D

Goals (Nov. 29, 2008)
- Re-instate daily regimen.
- Brush up on rolls.
- Accomplish some beginning Parkour techniques.
- Find daily hotspots for practice on campus.

Injuries - Discussion / Re: READ BEFORE CREATING NEW TOPICS
« on: November 28, 2008, 04:30:05 PM »
Here's a great website I found a while back when I was VERY sick and wanted to figure out what I could have contracted before going to a doctor to make sure we'd both cover the right symptoms and consider the same diagnosis'. It's free, you don't have to sign up, you just go to the page and click Start and you choose from a specific interactive list of body parts and symptoms, and it'll come up with a large list of possibilities. They've started to advertise the free service on TV as well, so you might have heard of this:

http://www.webmd.com/

Thought self-diagnosis is often not the most reliable thing, it can sure be helpful when you need to look into an injury or any symptoms more. I don't trust doctors completely because there's a lot that have been known to overlook symptoms and not give you a good enough or right treatment, so I figure you could have this at your disposal to seriously contemplate any situations and if you have an injury bad enough requiring a doctor's visit, be able to discuss with them the diagnosis and treatment, rather than just saying "I fell and now I've got pain." Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

I'm Steve, I live in Connecticut.
I'm 19, studying acting & music in college.
I'm new to parkour. :P But I find it very enticing.

That's a terrible thing to happen, definitely report him if you haven't already. Glad you kept your cool though. I've heard stories of innocent situations like this that luckily started off a light lighter toned, but because of aggression turned bad and resulted in ticketing and court. Hope you never have to go through this again. :(

Welcome! / New Future Parkour Junkie

Parkour junkie, maybe. :P lol

Hey, I'm Steve. I've been interested in parkour for a while now and decided to take a look at it and start to get into it. I'm at a university studying acting, so anything involving body movement, balance, and so on intrigues me as it's an important aspect of the stage, especially for dance as well. I'm not about to jump the gun on this though, I'll be starting at a decent pace, but am happy to be in a group such as this to absorb advice and tips from the atmosphere, and maybe make some friends to meet up with and jam near NY. I'm a practical guy, so don't be afraid to stop and say hello!
