Hey West Coasters,

Some NY traceurs are coming to visit Los Angeles from June 13th -18th. we currently have our flight tickets, but not really anything else planned. We definitely plan on hitting up the Tempest Academy, but would love to train with some local traceurs as well!

There are 7 of us coming: Me/ Thomas Dolan, Trevor Ray, Vertical Jimenez, Arfel Villanueva, Caitlin Pontrella, Jesse Danger, and Mike "Pyro" Araujo. All of us are athletes affiliated with NYPK, Sanjuu, APK, or Take Flight (or a combination of these). Aside from Caitlin, we all appear in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDfc21rVkhM

If anyone has some room to spare we'd appreciate crashing- on the floor, in a tent, in the closet, whatever space you might have. We're traceurs, we're adaptable.

If you're interested let me know!

Thanks,

Thomas

Pics & Vids / New York Summer
« on: September 13, 2011, 05:13:57 PM »
Well I just finished editing together my summer video, a collection of clips from my summer back home in New York City. Now that I'm back at college in PA, thought it was a good time to edit and reflect on how awesome of a summer it was. I feel like I definitely progressed in some areas.

Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks everyone! Haha I just came to APK to post this only to see that someone else already had. Glad you're enjoying it, I took a lot more time to edit this than I do with most of my videos and hopefully that shows!

Steve, I think me and Mike (Pyro) were the only ones from NYPK at Hubbable. Hope to see you there again next year :)

Pics & Vids / New York Parkour BBQ and Jam
« on: June 20, 2011, 07:02:03 PM »
Two weeks ago NYPK, a parkour group in NYC, held a BBQ and jam to celebrate it's 6th year of being around. We got some wooden vault boxes and our own set of scaffolding to set up and train on, which were a ton of fun.

I got some footage of the jam and put together this little video. Enjoy!

Thanks man.  I can't say I particularly enjoy training in the snow either haha, but there is something satisfying about learning how to move in all environments, comfortable or not. And you don't want to get rusty and forget what you learned in the fall!

Well I know it's been spring for a little while now, but I finally got the chance to do some editing and put together a short video of some of my winter training.  Nothing spectacular, but I used the cold months to focus on control and on flow rather than on big movement, and I think the edit came out pretty well. Hope you enjoy!

And also when did you get sideflips?!  First time seeing them from you on a proper video.

Haha they're no longer tucker aeriels!

I also commented on FB but I gotta say Max, every time I train with you or see footage from you I'm impressed with your improvement. You're definitely an example that sometimes we Americans can move like europeans too :P

Looking forward to training with you again (and just training in general... argh school!)

If this kid trains safely and conditions, he'll grow up to be amazing. He already has a ton of moves down, and his flow will improve greatly with time and practice. Looking forward to seeing this kid again in a few years.

Favorite part of this whole video is how many times you're smiling while practicing. Looks like a ton of fun.

Haha best part about training with Marco is we're always laughing- It's all about having fun!

Good one Santana, much improvement on your flow!

Haha thanks Jordan. I thought the article came out pretty well, despite what you said about the mis-labeling. At least they described the difference between parkour and freerunning pretty well in the article! if you're ever on the F&M campus training, let me know.

And glad to see you enjoyed it Steve!

Hey everyone,

Here's an edit I put together of some of the training I've been doing this fall, mostly working on control and technique. Enjoy!

Great job man, it's refreshing to see a beginner who's starting off with the basics and really drilling them before moving on to bigger moves. Your form is pretty good, and you already have some flow. You're off to a great start!

"The gift of parkour is being able to train anywhere."  I forget where I heard that originally...I run with that same shuffle :)

This is really true, and is definitely what I was trying to show with this video... I've actually gotten some messages from people on youtube asking if I could make a video training with some other objects. And haha, apparently a lot of people run with that shuffle, it really is perfect!

haha man, I was thinking about doing the exact same thing! After I made my Table training video, I wasn't sure if I wanted to put it on my main page since it's so different from my other videos, and I'm thinking of making more relaxed / training style videos like it... I was thinking of making another blog type account.

Well, I subscribed, always looking forward to seeing more stuff from you bro!

Have to say I was really impressed! Haha the quality of the video may not have been great, but the quality of the movement more than made up for it. I'd really like to see some of your more recent movement, you must be even more beast now.

I made this video to show the possibilities that lie within even the most simple and common objects. Many people complain that there are no good spots around them, but to me parkour is all about being creative with what you have, and if you spend enough time you'll be able to find lots of things to do with any object. This is a short demonstration of that.
