Illinois / Re: I need group , club or classes teach pakour

If I hear you correctly, you are asking if you need a group to learn parkour or can you use tutorials. If so, yes you can use just tutorials and practice on your own. That's how I am starting out. There are so many wonderful guides on youtube. Jesse Lafalir, tapp brothers and Ronnie streets are some really good channels that have amazingly detailed tutorials. look around, find out which one you like and watch them. start with basics and just go at it slowly and dont rush. you will be fine :)

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Listening to music

For me, depends where I train, If I am going to be in a small area like a playground I bring a speaker and just play it. If I am running around a public park or something like that, then I use head phones and try to avoid to much rolling and stay low. Some of my track pants have zipper pockets which make it nice so I don't have to worry to much about my ipod falling out. I don't use my phone for that problem. Buy a cheap ipod on amazon/ebay/craigslist and just go from there :)

It kind of feels like a rope burn in the center of my hand. I can maybe do about 30 mins of bar work before it starts hurting to bad. So it is just something I need to get used too?

Hello. So im pretty sure this is just because im not used to the moves I have been performing but every time i go to do bar work like swings, grabs, pull ups, etc. My hands sting pretty bad. i have a lot of calluses from training and they havent opened also they dont sting directly on the callus but more in the middle of my hand where i grip. Is this a normal thing i have to get used to or should I do something for it? please any help would greatly appreciated. Thank you! :D PS i do have pics i can show if needed.

Injuries - Discussion / Re: Shin splints.
« on: September 18, 2014, 04:12:37 AM »
So I have shin splints and I've been dealing with them for a while. Rest and ice is key as well as properly stretching them. With me being military it is hard to rest them as much as I would like do too PT and other activities. But definitely look up stretching exercises that will help. Also rolling them helps as well, use a lacrosse ball and roll both the in and outside of the shins for 30 seconds each side and then switch legs. Also if you run heel to toe, that can cause major problems, trying running more balls of the feet. It will help a lot. One major thing is talk to your coach, im sure he will understand and help you. Just be careful, train safe and good luck!

Parkour / Re: Kong vault fear
« on: August 24, 2014, 01:52:09 PM »
From what my buddy says and the video shows I am able to clear it. My hips are high. It might be a confidence thing. I guess I just need to break from stopping as soon as my hands hit. I'll try to post a video later since they are on my phone.

Parkour / Kong vault fear
« on: August 24, 2014, 07:31:28 AM »
Hello! So I have been doing parkour for about a month now. I know how to do a good amount of vaults, precisions and rolls. For some reason I have a fear of the Kong vault. I don't even know if its a fear. At first I didn't know if i could clear it but after my friend video taped me to see where my legs were I figured out I can. Now my problem is getting over the object. Every time I run up to the obstacle, I jump towards it and my body just stops and my arms never push me over.. Idk why, my arms automatically just stop me. It is frustrating that I know I can clear it but for some reason my arms are stopping me. Anyway to get over this and tips on how to help finish the move? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
