Hi, I have been working on my wall climbs lately, but I have started to get a little used to the shorter walls I climb (10 ~ 11 ft) and I would like to know how do you progress further. I have seen in videos people doing at least 12 ft, which is my ultimate goal for this summer, because that would open many doors for some fun parkour. I have noticed one thing in videos, which i have been trying successfully and that is taking two steps on the wall, which seems to have gotten me 6 inches more (about). Does anyone have any tips on the subject? That would be awesome! Thanks!

same here, out of 7000 theres four of us...
Out of 20,000 i think theres 1 guy that does free running (not sure) and then about 7 different guys i saw once at the gymnastics center, and me. So if you are optomistic about 9 people here. 9/20,000 as far as i know.

I was bored one day and in my room, watching youtube, and one of the related videos was "How to jump of high things and not get hurt". So i watched it and thought that was cool, i didn't even know that was possible at the time, (it was simply doing rolls). And i look in the comments and there were alot of disslikes and people saying, Thats not a parkour roll, or, You will just hurt yourself that way. So i typed in, Parkour Roll, and Ryan Doyle's parkour roll came up. I watched it and tried to do a very simple roll in my bedroom (the type where you hold your foot). I finally succeed after 5 minutes and thought it was fun. So i continued to the normal roll, and found that this mysterious "parkour" thing was about doing vaults and ninja like moves. My goal was to get all of the basic movements down, and i have achieved that goal, thanks to a crappy and incorrect PK roll video =). I've been doing PK for about 9 months now and counting.

I do parkour alone already because i cant find anyone in northfield that does it. So if parkour does some how go out of style and people stop doing it, as long as i am still around i will be doing it. That would just make me more unique =).

Hey, what's up, I'm Steph, a freerunner from Denver CO. I'm going to St. Olaf next year, and am beyond thrilled that there's a pk scene (it was one of my biggest priorities when choosing a college). I take it pretty seriously haha. I love to train, it's the best thing in the world. I'm going to be moving to Northfield around August... we should definitely train, yeah?
Sorry for the very late response, i haven't been checking on this post in a while. I think it would be fun to do parkour with someone else, just let me know when and if you are going to go training, i live close to st.Olaf, and i know some decent places for PK. We could definitely meet up for some parkour/freerunning  =D

I live about a half hour away from Nothfield in Owatonna when I am not at school in Indiana. I know there were some middle aged guys that used to do parkour in Northfield but IDK if they do anymore. I have always wanted to take a day and train there. I will probly come during the summer to train sometime. I will let you know.
Oh cool =D, yea let me know if you do!

Wow you can do flips (which i cant do). But i can do rolls! And dive rolls. Anyways my point was that rolling was the first thing i did, this video was my complete guide through this process:

Yeah, There is a Brick, oddly designed Bank Near my house that could by an amazing climb if you had the skill. It has Gapped Planters and Perfect rails too. I drool when I walk by it; but, I enjoy my freedom so I leave it alone.

Is it wrong that I want the Bank to shut down just so I can Play there?
I know! i feel that alot, like Hmm this would be fun, but i cant do that. And if it does close  down let me know!
my theory is that if you dont have to move anything to get up on the roof, then you haven't done anything illegal and all they can do is tell you to get down..
I like this =)
Congrats.

But, just don't do anything illegal or dangerous.
Thanks, im not sure if i will be able to keep myself from doing something illegal, and by that i mean climb ontop of the school again. But if i did, i would be safe, do it rarely when no one is around, and leave everything the way it was.
But for now i am just learning ground moves, cant even get the cartwheel lol. But today i just learned the dash vault!!! It soooo fun!

Anyone else do parkour in Northfield, MN? I feel like im the only one out of the 20k population. Trying to teach some friends but they are either too fat, lazy or play too much WoW.

BTW i just heard about the fight or flight academy, does anyone know if they have an open gym day? How much?

Wondered to myself 2.5 months ago...
Wouldn't it be cool to jump off tall things safely? So i learned how to roll, then lazy vault, two handed vault, etc.
Glad i watched that you tube video! looking at it now it was actually really bad technique XD

Thanks guys! I apreatiate all of the advice and thanks. I have been looking at things differently now. Like, how could i climb this wall? could i wall climb 10 or 11 feet and grab onto that pipe, then pull myself the remaining 3 feet? I feel much more confident about my wall climb too now.
My next chalenge is a webster, then when someone says "do a flip brah" ill be able to do one and say "beeeach" =D.
Also, a webster isn't really parkour right? you can get over things with it, but vaults are a lot easier. Correct me if im wrong.
you feel superior on the tops of buildings LOL
I know! i felt the same way! I love how you can get an entirely new perspective of things when you are higher up than normal. The building that i climbed had ladders on top leading to the gym roof, i found out today. Maybe i will have a picnic on top of the gym soon...

Then choose the 640x480 for the size. Should bring up a link once you enter it in on the side. (first link)

You are officially a badass. I wish I could just watch a tutorial and instantly copy it. How long have you been practicing?
Thank you too! I have been practicing for 2 to 3 months, probably closer to three. My advice for wall climbing is to try it on shorter walls, like 6 to 8 feet. I found ac couple and those really taught me a lot. The wall your climbing also has to have an easy roof to grab onto =)
