Kansas / International Parkour Day in Witchita?
« on: June 03, 2011, 12:42:22 PM »
I'm going to be in Witchita tomorrow and was wondering if anyone was planning a meet up or jam. I'm from the Kansas City area (Olathe Parkour) but I'm coming to with my family to "visit family", which for me means, go out and train. If anyone is planning anything, let me know via PM or reply to this thread.

Thanks,
Collin

Parkour And Freerunning / Research paper on David Belle OR Daniel Ilabaca
« on: January 26, 2011, 07:48:49 PM »
Hey everybody,

After searching the forum, I found nothing of help. I'm writing a research paper on a person, and I chose David Belle as my primary person, and Daniel Ilabaca as my secondary (secondary person is used if I can't find enough on David Belle).

I have to have 2 internet sources (no Wikipedia), 1 reference book (dictionary, encyclopedia, etc) and one book (either fiction or non-fiction).

Can ANYONE help me out? I spent all class yesterday (an hour) in our school library looking for either a reference book or a book (fict./non-fict.) to no avail.

Parkour And Freerunning / "Teaching"/Preaching Parkour??
« on: January 22, 2011, 07:38:19 PM »
I have already searched the forum for my specific question, to no avail. So with that, lets move on.

I am by no means very religious. I'm not going to try and convert anyone, this is just a simple question (I'm not sure if its allowed, or if this is in the right place. Someone please tell me if it isn't). My mother is religious (more than me anyways), and every few weeks has me go to church with her. I usually just go with my brother to youth group since its for kids in grades 6-12, and I'm a junior. On to my point.

I was asked by the youth pastor (who knows I do parkour), if I wanted to teach/preach about parkour and how you can apply it religiously. I did not give him a definite yes or no, I just said I'd think about it. The only reason why I didn't give him a definite answer is because if I say yes, I would have no idea where to begin writing a whole "lesson" on Parkour and how it applies to religion (this church is an open church, there is no dominant faith. Christians, Lutherans, Baptist, Catholics, etc all go there, so it'd have to apply more towards Parkour and "God"/Religion).

In short, I'm asking for help on getting ideas, or even some help writing a "sermon" on how Parkour can be applied to religion.

I apologize if I am violating any rules.

Parkour And Freerunning / Yay for me!
« on: January 09, 2011, 10:18:49 AM »
Alright, I apologize if I'm not suppose to make a separate thread for this. However...

There is finally, after waiting for over a month and a half, snow on the ground in Olathe, Kansas. I have, for the first time, completed a Kong to Cat in the snow (I actually only learned how to do them about 3 weeks ago, on dry ground). However, what I am more excited about, is this.

I just preformed my first ever rail precision, and to make it more incredible, I did it in the snow! I did it safely, but wiping the snow off the bars (my shoes were still slippery), I took a few seconds to focus, and went for it.

Just my little happy moment.

General Fitness / Fitness goal
« on: September 22, 2010, 06:26:23 PM »
Hello everyone,

Long story short, I use to be very athletic. I was very fit, played sports year round (football, swimming, soccer). I injured my knee very badly one year during football, and again with my shoulder during swimming. I started putting on some weight. While I am no means overweight, I do have some fat and a small roll on my stomach I would like to remove. I would like help setting a workout (and maybe diet?) plan. I would really like to be skinny and/or have a 4+ pack, but that isn't as important as getting healthly. The 4+ pack comes last in priority, I just want to be skinny and fit again.

Goals:
1.) Lose 15 pounds of fat
2.) Put on 10 pounds of muscle
3.) Reduce body fat to 15% from 22%
4.) LOSE THIS GUT (34 inches... :/)

I really do not have a routine other than my normal PK training. I have a younger brother with disabilities who I have to watch from 3-6 everyday, which cuts into my training time. I did start a workout program in July, but was done by August first (got too busy). If any one could help me set up some sort of diet and or fitness/training guide, that would be great. I'd like to achieve all of this before the new year stars, which I've been told is realistic and achievable. Thanks in advance

Pics & Vids / Olathe Parkour - Tearing Up the Schools Film Shoot
« on: September 12, 2010, 05:40:42 PM »
Here is the first official video for Olathe Parkour. We are waiting for better video equipment and more people to film at different angles. Our group has only really been practicing since about April, but we have known about Parkour since October and did some conditioning starting in February. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Parkour And Freerunning / Parkour Nickname help?
« on: September 03, 2010, 02:23:22 PM »
I'm curious as to what some good nicknames would be. I can't think of anything good and I'd really like to have one as I just recently joined up with the local Kansas City Parkour group. Any ideas? My name is Collin, I'm 5'11", I'm partially Italian, work with the fire department and I'm pretty strong, if that helps for ideas?
