General Fitness / Beginner Strength Without Much?

I'm 14, and I plan to get some weights in a few weeks, but want to begin strength training now. I have a machine, but have no clue if that works well. It has a variety of weights and positions. Should I try using that and the guide for it? Also, what are some small thing I can do at home without any equipment to work on upper body and abs?
