Writing my 10-page research paper on Parkour.  I been searching for the first nine guys to practice Parkour back from Evry, Sarcelles, and Lisses.  I can't find it, but I can, however, find a list of men who were in the group Yamakasi.  The thing is, I have found a list the Yamakasi group from 2-3 different locations and it's different in each one.

If you ACTUALLY KNOW and have a reference you could link me to, that would be greatly appreciated for either section of information I am looking for.  No referencing to Wikipedia since I can't use that as a source for school.

Thank You

Movement / Possible for Spine to not Touch Ground?
« on: April 15, 2010, 06:37:02 PM »
How is it possible to not allow your spine to touch the ground when rolling, especially on concrete?

I perform a roll or two on concrete to find my errors since it feels comfortable on grass.  This also will show red marks later where I can see where I flawed, but it seems impossible to NOT make contact with your spine and the ground.

Other topics seem to say that you are just minimizing the amount of time your spine touches the ground.  Is this true?

Training Journals / Cagle Bagel's Journal
« on: April 14, 2010, 03:53:23 PM »
Hello!  I'm David Cagle, and I live in Springfield, Missouri.  I am about 5'9'' and weigh 145 lbs. I have been seriously practicing parkour for around a 1.5 months now.  I have found that I am making quick progress.  I use to practice parkour every Saturday with other practitioners and at home alone 2 years ago when I was a Freshmen (a Junior now in high school).  I quit after losing motivation and people stopped coming for a few weeks.

I decided to start making a training log since I haven't really been noticing how many achievements I have made and I haven't been really setting goals for myself and this will help me track my progress.

Previously

I been mostly heading up to the best spot in Springfield which is Founders Park and just working on shorter drops to build up knee strength, wall climbs, and vaulting.  I finally overcame my fear of the dash vault and have been just discovering how much I can when I remove mental block. Climbing the middle of Jordan Valley Parking Garage, the sides of it, QM's at US Bank when it's vacant, and over at Bear Line to practice vertical wall climbs and some vaults.  I was serious, but not conditioning to my fullest.  I also went with Dustin on Saturdays to work on some stuff as well which helped push me.  Especially into learning how to cat leap with larger jumps! Thanks Dusty ;)

This Week and Last
I started working harder on dips and pull-ups and the such to aid me getting up after a wall climb.  Going from hanging on the ledge at a  dead hang to getting over it.  My friend Michael and I started QM'ing for a little bit from one of the park to the other for conditioning.  Other than that, just technical stuff. Also got my Vibram FiveFingers KSOs! They rock, I wear them all the time now :)

My friend Stephen came so I didn't do any conditioning where I can give a numerical amount of how much I did.

- Forced myself into doing a 6 foot kong vault with some practice and self motivation.  (reaching for the other side helps than just trying to dive far)
- Conditioned DEEP dips.
- Able to go from cat leap to kipping on top of wall much quicker than when i first started. I NO LONGER NEED ELBOWS!!!
- QM'd when I got home forwards, backwards, and ground kongs.
- Worked on handstands

GOALS:
15 Pull-ups
10 second handstand
Wall Climb a 9-10' wall that I can ALMOST reach at Founders Park
8.5' Broad Jump
50 Push-Ups
2 Minute Front Plank

GOALS ACHIEVED
None

Tomorrow's Plans:
Go to Founder's Park and work on plyo jumps and conditioning for legs to increase my broad jump and kong distance
Practice Precisions
Practice Pk rolls
QM at the end for overall conditioning

Missouri / Springfield Anyone?
« on: March 26, 2010, 03:34:58 PM »
Does anyone regularly practice parkour in Springfield, MO?  I been going downtown from like 8:30 to 10 or so every night that isn't too wet.  This week has been crappy since it's freaking Spring Break for me and others.

I would go during the day, but I feel awkward by myself with everyone around.  I been hitting up Founders for some gaps and landings.  The Bearline building in front next to the railroad tracks is great for many movements.  Jordan Valley parking garage is useful as well.

So if you would like to get together sometime for just some practice and sharing of knowledge, then let me know.  Doesn't have to be a regular thing, just whenever.

Thanks!  ;D
