Movement / Body awareness
« on: January 24, 2010, 08:25:47 PM »
I realized that whenever I try a handstand I can't hold it correctly because I don't know how hard I need to push my legs to mantain balance wihtout using extra force. Does anyone have any tips for improving besides doing handstands against a wall?

Consumer Whores / APK Beanie
« on: November 13, 2009, 01:25:22 PM »
I live in Mexico but sometimes I go to the US in holidays and such. Wanted to know if it may be possible to get one of the APK beanies in McAllen, Texas as that is the place I usually go. Are APK beanies available there?

Movement / Jumping before the kong vault
« on: October 26, 2009, 06:58:51 PM »
Some weeks ago I injured myself practicing kong vaults. I managed to record the whole thing and I saw what I did wrong, I jumped too late and that is why I clipped my knees. Now I watch Ozzi's tutorial again and started thinking about my jumping. Does jumping strongly help in doing the kong vault?

Parkour And Freerunning / Dominant leg
« on: October 17, 2009, 05:02:01 PM »
I am right handed but I can do some things better with my left hand and some with my right hand. Logically I thought my right leg was dominant but lately I started to notice that whenever I jump I use my left leg to jump. I can't jump the same with my right leg, as a matter of fact I don't get 1/4 close to jumping the same with my right leg as with my left leg.

What can I do to improve with my right leg?

So how can I prepare to landing big jumps besides mastering the roll. Is is something you gain with practice or are there any particulare excercises?

Parkour And Freerunning / Just a doubt about another parkour website
« on: October 03, 2009, 02:47:16 PM »
This isn't spam or anythin similar.

Before I joined here I spend most of my time in www.parkour-online.com. Decent community with a good moderator(who left to basic training in the army). I searched for the guy "Drew Taylor" here and saw his other posts and the discussion about his site in a very old thread. This got me wondering, so I did well by moving over here? I kind of learned a lot I guess by talking to other members from the forum but the whole site looks and feels unproffesional. I am just trying to clear my doubts here. :-\

Training Journals / Yow's Log
« on: October 01, 2009, 03:57:19 PM »
Wasn't sure if the name is ok but anyways, I decided to keep track of my training as it will help me in the future.

I started training since January, mostly conditioning excercises to get more strength.

Yesterday I practiced kongs. Things were doing all right at first. Managed to get farther with every jump to the point of overcoming the obstacle (which in my case was a dog house below waist height). After some tries I managed to get over the obstacle! Then I tried some more and I came over the obstacle 2 times in a row. Third time is when things got ugly...my knees didn't made it and I hit them with the edge of the house. That was it for that day and for now I am resting and waiting for my knees to heal. I'll get to train as soon as possible

Hawaii / Exclusiveness?
« on: October 01, 2009, 03:46:36 PM »
So I was thinking about how Hawaii seems like a great place for parkour with an excellent community for it and that if I ever go there I would like to practice taking any classes they give there. My question is that do they have any requirements or something? Do I have to be from the US?

Movement / Kong questions
« on: October 01, 2009, 02:34:50 PM »
So I practiced kongs yesterday but I kind of doubt I did it right.

-Am I supposed to push with my arms?
-How can I get the confidence to make the dive?
-How far do I have to put my arms? Shoulder width?

Parkour And Freerunning / What to do while sitting
« on: October 01, 2009, 01:19:57 PM »
I hurt my knees yesterday doing a kong (first time). I can't train for now and I was wondering if there were any excercises to keep me busy while sitting.

Welcome! / New to the forums!
« on: September 30, 2009, 12:58:53 PM »
Well I thought I'll make an introduction.

I am 15 years old and started parkour training arounr January. I am from Mexico and I hope that doesn't make any difference even though this is american parkour community. I was part of another parkour forum but because of the lack of activity I decided to change over here. I like how there is activity every day and many great traceurs are here so hopefully I'll be staying for a while now. Thanks

General Fitness / Agility
« on: September 28, 2009, 01:41:55 PM »
I recorded myself doing some wall runs with climb ups and realized I look clumsy. I've always known I need to be more agile so does anyone have suggestions on how to improve agility?

Movement / Overcome fear?
« on: September 27, 2009, 06:04:51 PM »
So I was thinking on how fear is driving me from doing most of the movements or at least trying them. I can't even risk on doing the kong vault for the fear of hitting my feet and me falling over. Any tips on how to overcome fear?
