American Parkour

PARKOUR IS HITTING THE MAIN STREAM. LIKE IT OR NOT. The only way we can stop people from damaging them selves is to get out in our community and teach everyone landings and rolls etc.. We need to make this a strong part of the community. Not an unorganized thing like the way skateboarding came about. We the community need a louder voice because too many parkour people have tried to keep this underground, and now that everyone is figuring out what this is, we aren't organized enough to control it. We need leaders who can teach in every city. They all need a way to advertise and organize their scene. Every city needs their own calender and training places. We need to teach this in schools everywhere just like baseball, karate, or gymnastics. We need to register with local parks before they try and kick us out so they know that we are not there to damage anything and that we are not doing anything wreckless. We need to have parkour/freerunning clubs that are active at every school. Even grade schools. We need to agree once and for all what the rough outline of what we believe parkour is.
Because the reality is that if we don't get organized the masses that only saw a show on mtv will start to define us as those building jumper guys who are nuts. People that see it that have no interest in reading forums all day will do damaging things, like the way skatebording blew up.
When people find out about parkour they should be able to ask their friends to find out where their local community is, and we should not be hard to find.
