Socialize / Dreadlock`s

Hello dudes, I was wondering if someone can help me with something:)
I want to have dreadlock`s, but I don`t know how long my hair has to be....
Oh and I don`t wand dreads all over my head, I want them just on my tail (pony tail:)) ).
So....how would they look??? need to know everything about this....

If you guys have some informations to help me, please reply!
