General Fitness / Gym problems

feel free to skip to the second paragraph if you don't want to read my rant/problem.
Alright I'll start from the beginning. Today I went lifting at my school and the past few weeks I have been practicing using Barbells so I can start SS eventually (IE. next week) and today the 'head' coach came and said not to use straight bars for squats and we have to use these weird cattle racks* as I call them. So I was just said fine, I'll talk to him later. So I went over to where we were exposed to do cleans and just started doing Dead lifts he looks at me and asks what I am doing and I say dead lifts. He says don't do them on that do it on this special Dead lift things they have or else I will destroy my back. I then asked him Don't you kind of do a squat when you set up for power clean? At this point I go to my bag Which has my SS book so I could show it to him, but after I showed it to him he said without even considering it 'I don't want to read that garbage'. I just want to hear out what he has to say at this point, so he shows me this website that say something along the lines of 'a slight difference in back angle can have serious complications'. 'Yes, I understand this that is why you must practice good form!' is the only thing I wanted to yell at him, but I had noticed that the article he used had used a Diagram that was from SS so I riffled through the book as fast as could to find it to no avail because I had to be ushered out to ' I have done this for 30 years, you are 16 you know nothing speech'. Me getting irritated just bit my tongue to prevent saying something stupid and just laughed it off quickly exiting due to him having a meeting.
I feel like I should of been able to handle this better, but it is what it is. I basically asking you guys this. Should I even try to get it through his head? would iteven be worth my time because he is retiring due to him being fired as the Football Coach. Should I go find another gym? all I really have around me it seems are planet fitness like places, we all know how they are. So this leads me to start thinking about getting my own stuff, but the reason I am not springing at this idea is that I would have to wait much longer to get a car if I put all the money I saved for it down on weights. I am also worried about my form more then anything else so would anyone be willing, if I did go with option, to critique my technique every now and again?
*I hate these with a fiery passion. These squat racks either are designed to screw up normal form or our 'coaches' don't know proper technique. We start out feet squared away and then when we squat we have to look up at this one bar thing which makes my neck feel very uncomfortable(don't know if this is safe or not it just doesn't feel right). and the coaches let a ton of kids due half squats which I hate. I think the reason they due it is so that they can stack on more plates to make them look like better coaches which is the same reason we have special dead lift equipment so we can have more kids lift 400+
sorry, if this is rambly or me over reacting, but I am tired plus a tad peeved
