Injuries - Discussion / Possible backflip injury?
« on: May 31, 2011, 03:19:21 PM »
Well just a little while ago I did my first few backflips on flat ground (FINALLY). But as I did my last flip for today, I forced myself back pretty hard and I felt my back crack. I don't know if this is bad or not mainly because, at the moment, I can walk and move my torso normally without pain. I just want to know if I injured myself.

Injuries - Discussion / MCL sprain
« on: April 02, 2011, 02:28:19 PM »
Well, 2 Thursdays ago I attempted an ariel on my trampoline and hurt my knee while landing the flip. It wasn't until the the following Wednesday that I went to my doctor. He said that I sprained my MCL and not to do anything crazy for a week. I think it's a weird injury since there is no swelling no unbearable pain, just a weird sensation in my knee when I do certain things and occasionally when I'm walking. Back to the point, after the week of no fun, will I have to wait any longer until I can go back to parkour?

Well winter's practically over, and I can finally come out of hibernation XD. Jk I actually got a lot of conditioning done. Wow I haven't posted on this site in a while. Anyway just thought I would check in with you guys and say that I'm looking forward to any jams coming up this spring and summer that I can be a part of. See you then!

Consumer Whores / Walmart starter shoes...
« on: August 03, 2010, 10:47:35 AM »
For a decent parkour shoe, well before I can get real good ones, I go to Walmart and get the starter brand of shoes that they have and they work perfectly fine! They have good grip on almost all surfaces but the only down side is the amount of foam padding they have on top of the actual sole. Anyways, does anyone aprove of getting these?

Texas / anyone near Little Elm?
« on: July 06, 2010, 11:47:21 AM »
I am from CT and the CT forums, but in a week or so I will be going back down to Texas to visit my dad like I do every year and he lives in Little Elm Texas. Since I will be mostly spending some time with him (this is the only time I see him each year) I may not be able to train with any who answer this, but I just wanted to know if I could meet anyone while I'm down there.

Movement / Does this mean I'm an official traceur???
« on: June 30, 2010, 06:56:16 PM »
What happened was, I was walking up a sidewalk to my aunt's house, and tripped. But instead of falling on my face I rolled to save it. The sidewalk was (obviously :P) concrete and when I rolled out of instinct, it hurt less than when I purposefully do it. Does this happen to a lot of people???

Movement / How do I fix this?
« on: June 05, 2010, 07:42:47 PM »
I can do kong vaults over a picnic table very easily and almost instictively, but that is only on the short side! Once I go onto the long side, I can't do them at all! I was over my friend's house doing them and realized that I use the two foot take off when I dive, and I can't help BUT do them... I've tried doing the split foot take off, but I must have lifted my legs up too high while konging over the table and I completely failed and I couldn't do that take off anymore. Any tips?

Movement / Rolling causes damage????
« on: May 31, 2010, 08:45:09 AM »
I know my mom for trying her hardest to keep me safe no matter the cost, and after she'd seen the bruises on my back from rolling, I believe she is trying to convince me to stop practicing parkour. Just about an hour ago, she told me that rolling on hard surfaces can "shave" parts of your spine bones off causing a bump under the skin. Is this true, or could this be another one of her tricks?  :-\  (and yes, my shoulder developed a bump underneath the skin after its bruise went away, and I think my spine may be developing one)

Injuries - Discussion / help please
« on: May 18, 2010, 12:41:04 PM »
Ok, I really have been stepping my parkour up a notch and training everyday. Infact, I learned how to do a two step vertical wall run. I haven't been taking any high drops and messing up my legs, but for some reason my left knee and lower back have some pain every now and then. Does anyone know if this will be permanant or will it go away if I rest a day or so? The pain in my back comes when I twist to the left and bend down, and the knee pain comes when I squat, kneel, or get up.

Movement / Funniest Bail
« on: May 09, 2010, 02:04:59 PM »
In this thread, I want everyone to explain, in detail, what their funniest bail was. And when I say funny, I don't mean, you hurting yourself severely and your friends laughing at you, but funny as in, you could laugh at yourself a few hours later. My funniest bail: I was trying to monkey vault over a rail at about stomach height, and when my feet were between my legs, they caught and I landed face first into the dirt... hurt for a second, but then I and my friend that was there started laughing hysterically at it  ;D :D :)
