APK Store / Products / My Order
« on: October 08, 2009, 08:49:48 AM »
All in all I am happy with my order. The products themselves are good quality, but it took a month for the order to get to me. Given the size of the store this makes sense in hindsight, just don't order something last minute.

Parkour And Freerunning / Games
« on: September 10, 2009, 10:38:33 PM »
I'm going to take a leap here and assume that most people have played Capture the Flag or some form of Tag with their training groups.

I just got done with a game with some non-parkour people, and I think many of you would enjoy this.

The name of the game is Fugitive.
There are two locations and two groups.

Locations first.
+A starting Location
+An ending Location (Ours was about 1.5-2 miles away from the start.)

Groups.
+Runners
+Drivers

The object of the game is for the runners to get to the ending location without getting tagged (with a flashlight beam) by the drivers.

The runners got a five minute head start, and could not go inside.

It should go without saying that runners are responsible for themselves when it comes to laws. (Trespassing ect.)

Anybody else have any games out there?

Parkour And Freerunning / What to do about...the rain.
« on: September 09, 2009, 06:34:15 AM »
Nothing really screws with a training schedule quite like the rain. Not much to do except workout indoors.

Anybody have any good tips?

General Fitness / Help with a problem
« on: August 01, 2009, 05:41:58 PM »
Greetings,

I have been practicing the discipline of Parkour for about 8 months now. An amazingly horrible thing happened to me 3 days ago. I lost all of my energy.

Here's a walk-through of my training this past week.

8-10 days ago: Abbreviated APK warm-up
7 days ago: Training with people in San Diego. (About 2 hours, great workout.)
6 days ago: Rest day
5 days ago: Spent on a plane traveling home, no workout.
4 days ago: A really good training session in the morning (about 2 hours), & some play focused on Kongs and Dash vaults in the afternoon (about 30 min.)
3 days ago: After a quick warm-up I try some QM on a bar and I've got no energy after about 5 min of that.
2 days ago: It rained when I would have worked out and my previous days exploits kept me from working out.
1 day ago: again no workout, but I can't remember why.
Today: It rained in the morning, but I made my self go out after it dried up. After a bit of warm up I am feeling it again, but I kept at it for a bit. After about 15 min. I couldn't even kong or speed vault properly. (And those are techniques I have always been decent at.)

I've got no idea where this loss of energy came from, any ideas?

Thank you for your time,
Andrew Grattendick

Movement / Kongs and advanced rolls
« on: July 22, 2009, 02:05:58 AM »
I've got the basic roll and the konging up onto something under control. My attempts to Kong over something (Like a picnic table) fall well short of the desired goal however. It may just be a mental block, but I was wondering if the dive in the advanced roll was similar to what is done when konging over an object (the horizontal in the air motion).

Thoughts?

From the title it sounds like there could be some Parkour related activities going on up on stage.
The show is April 30th - May 2nd

Missouri / Springfield BBQ
« on: April 05, 2009, 05:53:52 AM »
So here's the thought; and if enough people like it then we make it happen.

Eli, and Chad are planning on leaving over the summer (others may be as well, but I don't know if and who they are). So we do sort of a send off BBQ (By BBQ I mean burgers and things, maybe ribs, not the true sense of the word) after one of our Saturday sessions. It's 12:00-1:00, the perfect time for lunch. I know Drury has a bunch of grills over in college park, and I have one we can use if Drury doesn't work for people.

Thoughts?

Missouri / New Warm Spot
« on: February 20, 2009, 05:08:01 PM »
I don't know that I would call it a hot spot per say, but a couple blocks west of founders is a complex owned by MSU that is being renovated. There is some pretty neat stuff in the area.
