"The Freerunner" Magazine / Where is it?

I haven't seen any new magazines since April. I'm wondering where it is. I look forward to when it starts being more regular again

Freerunning / Flyaway tutorial?

Does anyone know where I can get a flyaway tutorial? That'd be great if someone could provide me with it, thanks.

Consumer Whores / Ariakes?
« on: April 13, 2010, 07:17:24 PM »
Okay, so they're discontinued. :( Sad time in my life considering they're the shoe I've wanted for 3 years but I've never had enough money to spend $100 on the shoes. Does anybody know where I can get the purple/green/white ones for wholesale price? Because I still don't have $100 to spend on shoes. I have like $60 to spend on these, and that'll have to cover shipping too.I have like no shoe budget,  I spent all my money on shorts and a tee shirt (like $100) oh, and new jeans (second hand shops FTW). That's off topic.

Anyways. If anyone knows where I can find them at a discounted price please tell me. I've found some sites that are selling them for 20-40 euros but they're out of stock (since they are discontinued)

Thank you very much if anyone can help me. One of my dreams will be complete.

Parkour And Freerunning / One arm trainning?
« on: March 26, 2010, 10:15:05 PM »
So I injured my hand climbing over a chain link fence (definitely NOT going to do that again). Should I condition only my right arm? It's already stronger than my left, but I don't wanna waste the time. I guess I could reinvest that time into other things such as leg conditioning though...

Also, I am still going to train, so what are good things to train when u only have one hand?

thanks, swap

Socialize / Song... first attempt
« on: October 27, 2009, 07:29:49 PM »
Is anyone on here a musician that could help me write/edit a song. I really want to write one, so I decided I would. here it is so far. I may write new lyrics if I feel so inclined, I tend to write a lot when I feel like my life is innate quite.

here it is. I named it I'm gunna live

I'd rather be dead.
But While I'm here,
I'm gunna give,
I'm gunna live,
100 percent.

The dark clouds,
Comming over me,
I'm scared of the world,
I'm scared of my door.

The only two, that I can find,
Help me to understand this bind.
Like the tiger from the dream,
They free myself from me. (or they free me from my snake (it's me))

I'd rather be dead.
But While I'm here,
I'm gunna give,
I'm gunna live,
100 percent.

I'd rather be dead.
But While I'm here,
I'm gunna give,
I'm gunna live,
100 percent.

I'm Gunna give!
I'm gunna live!
I'm going to fly myself away,
To better place (night?), to a better day.

Cuz I wanna free myself,
from me.
I wanna swim intoooooooo the sea.
I want to find myself,
And make myself be me!

I'd rather be dead.
But While I'm here,
I'm gunna give,
I'm gunna live,
100 percent.

I'd rather be dead.
But While I'm here,
I'm gunna give,
I'm gunna live,
I'm gunna find myself and give one hundred percent.

I'm gunna live!!!
da da da daaaaa
my one hundred percent.

I think I mgiht drop teh last part off.... It's my first attempt at a song and songs are a bit different to write then poetry, I find poetry easier. anyways, criticism is always nice.

Tricking / Twisting fast?
« on: October 21, 2009, 05:54:04 PM »
I watch the tricking videos and I see them all spin at like 10 times per second and it's insane. How do you get to be able to spin that fast? I know you need to torque your body, but how do you do that?

Consumer Whores / Parkour Gloves - For Winter
« on: October 05, 2009, 01:30:55 PM »
Personally I don't use gloves, but when it's like -20C out I'll need some gloves so my hands don't get frostbite. Does anyone know of any closed finger gloves that are good? Or some open finger gloves? Either one is better then nothing. I was out yesterday and it was only like 0 C out and the metal was super cold. I could bare it but gloves would of been nice.

Okay, this summer I'm going to get into shape. Now that's a very broad term, let me be a bit more specific. By the end of summer here are my goals. I'm not so sure about the endurance ones though, just because I'm not sure how long it'll take my ankle to fully heal up so that I can run again.

Here are my summer goals:

100 pushups in a row
50 pullups, 50 chin ups
60 dips,
30 muscle ups - on wall
10 muscle ups - on bar
100 situps
150 squats

100 pound pushup
50 pound pull up
100 pound squat

Endurance -
16k run - 1 hour 30 minutes
20 legnths - .5 k of swimming
400m sprint - < 1:00 minute

Here are my currents:

35 pushups
12 pullups
10 chinups
15 dips
0 muscle ups - either
50 squats
22 situps

endurance -
I havn't ran in a while, so I'll guess maybe 7-10k
swimming - 6 legnths front crawl
400m sprint - i think around 1 minute 12 seconds

Any one up for a 100 pushup challenge with me?
I challenge you all to beat me to my goals :)

If anyone know where I can buy some free weights, used would be good. I would love to buy them. Just PM me, also a bar to put them on would be nice, because I'm not to sure how strong my backpack is.

If anyone knows a good way to increase reps for pullups/ chinups that would be apreciated. I was thinking one max set and 3 sets of 80%?

Thank you all!

Socialize / Other Sports/activities?
« on: April 28, 2009, 07:59:45 PM »
What other sports/activities does everyone enjoy/do?

I like to do gymnastics, bike, snowboard, run, play basketball, and play piano.

I think that it would be good if APK had a notification when someone has replied to a thread you have posted on. I find myself trying to find the posts I have posted on to see them frequently, it would be like the youtube comment thing. When people reply or post on the same thread as you then you will get an e-mail. Of course, you will be able to turn this option on or off. Just an idea, I understand that it would probably take a lot of work.

Parkour And Freerunning / Why is Parkour against competition?
« on: April 25, 2009, 01:47:45 PM »
So why is Parkour so against competition?

I personally would compete if there were competitions, but my main focus would still be in the true nature of Parkour. But I would still compete. I haven't really thought about that before. I don't think it would really affect the training of the Traceurs/Traceuses. The only thing I could see is kids getting into it, and we would have kids that aren't ready to do stuff, but for the sake of competition, they do it anyways.

Thoughts, comments?

Parkour And Freerunning / Keeping in stride before a vault
« on: April 23, 2009, 08:02:47 PM »
I have noticed that when I go for a run, and I'm actually running at the obstacles, not just drilling them, my strides become very small and short to prepare to vault the obstacle.
I'm not sure if I'm making any sense to anyone, but please try and follow, it's something we all need to learn.
So my stride is very inefficient before vaulting the obstacle or doing the wall run, or... well you get the point. So it would be faster in some instances to just go around the obstacle depending on its size. I'm just wondering if anybody has any tips to improve taking off in stride for the most efficiency. If I was getting chased, unless I was at least 50m ahead of the thing, I would be caught.

Thanks for any advice,
