Injuries - Discussion / ACL tear and Meniscus damage
« on: April 14, 2011, 12:29:30 PM »
A little over 7 months ago I tore the ACL in my left knee doing a front tuck step out in the gym. For some reason I decided to ignore it and pass it off as just a ligament strain/sprain. So now, 7 months, 2 re-inuries, and a few agitations later, I've decided to get it treated. I've already gotten the MRI results confirming it is in fact an ACL tear as well as some minor Meniscus damage.

The doctor wants to perform surgery on it using a donor ACL and will cut the damaged Meniscus off. I'm scheduled to do it possibly as soon as this Monday. So, is there anything I should do to prepare for this? Any second opinions? Thanks for any input.  :)

I'd like to give special thanks to my friend Jonathan Camelo. We were both supposed to make videos showing our climbup progression but unfortunately his camera broke in the process of filming. Thanks for giving me motivation to make this video and for helping me progress as a Traceur and a person.

Florida / Tampa Jam - August 7th-9th
« on: July 07, 2009, 10:15:42 PM »
Hey everyone. I'll be hosting a Southeast-wide jam here in Tampa, FL from the 7th of August to the 9th (Friday-Sunday). Here's how the three days will go:

Friday: Everyone arrives and gets settled, then open gym from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M.

Saturday: Everyone that couldn't make it Friday arrives and we go to Medard State Park in Brandon. Have a training session all day and cookout.

Sunday: Training at USF and saying our goodbyes. :'[

As far as housing goes, I can host as many people as needed. I have a nice big open floor for sleeping bags and a big comfy extra Serta mattress for sleeping on.

We'll be meeting at 2004 Curry Rd., Lutz 33549 on Friday. If you have any other questions post them here or send me a text or call at 813-892-2057. Mind you, I won't have my phone for another day or two but once I have it you can call or text any time. Hope to see everyone there. :)

Movement / Proper sideflip landing
« on: September 04, 2008, 05:48:42 PM »
I just recently started doing sideflips on grass and I'm wondering exactly how to land. When I block I use my whole foot to punch off and I land the same way. My question is should I land on the balls of my feet instead of my whole foot or is it ok to land on my whole foot? I'm kind of scared that if I move on to harder surfaces that I'm going to jar my legs if my landing technique is incorrect.

Injuries - Discussion / Staples in my shin- what can I do?
« on: May 07, 2008, 06:02:52 PM »
I was wondering if I could do any sort of low impact leg exercise with staples in my shin. Mind you the shin is definitely not a meaty part of the leg so the risk of popping out the staples is fairly high. I just wanted to do some rail balancing (with a low to the ground rail of course), pistols, calf raisers, and maybe some ankle exercises. Thanks for any advice.

Injuries - Discussion / risks
« on: April 26, 2006, 06:48:16 PM »
I just started PK and am doing atleast ten foot drops or so. I was wondering if this is too risky. I know how to roll pretty well and I've only experienced some very slight back pain. I want to know if I'm trying to be superman newby and if so where should I start? Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
