Oklahoma / New OKPK programs
« on: March 04, 2009, 07:10:29 PM »
Hello; long time no see!  Sorry folks; I've been quite busy the last few...erm, months.  ;D

Anyhow, I'd like to inform everyone that OKPK is working on a couple of projects that should be pretty epic and pretty awesome.  I can't really delve into too much detail as of now, but rest assured that I will post details here as soon as I have them.  Sorry to be so mysterious, but I basically don't want to give away details yet, just in case it doesn't work out.

These will be long term projects, so it may take a long time for them to be implemented, (e.g. >1+ years) but they should be very cool opportunities once they are!

I will also be posting the info on the OKPK Web site as it becomes more concrete.

Train safe!

Oklahoma / OKPK Master Schedule Thread
« on: October 14, 2008, 05:13:54 PM »
In order to be a little more user-friendly, here's a thread that will serve as the master shedule thread so we no longer have to make a new one every time we update schedules.  Instead, I'll just come in and edit the post to reflect any changes.

Speaking of which OKPK will now ONLY be offering sessions in Oklahoma City on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  On Wednesday, conditioning will be at 3:30pm and on Saturdays jams will be at 11:00am.

There are various reasons for doing this, mainly to allow more experienced traceurs a break from teaching so that they may also focus on challenging themselves to progress to a new level.  It also allows newer traceurs to take the techniques they have learned on Wednesdays and Saturdays and hone them while training in solitude, something which is extremely beneficial but often overlooked.

Everybody loves to socialize while training with others, but often this socializing can overshadow any real training taking place.  OKPK will continue to be a fun atmosphere with traceurs coming together to learn from one another, but hopefully 2 sessions a week will also allow traceurs more time alone to really concentrate and progress.

p.s. Chris, can you sticky this?  Thanks!

Oklahoma / I'm out
« on: September 20, 2008, 06:47:59 PM »
Well, I separated my shoulder in my rugby match today so I'm out for a while guys!!!!  :( :(  Hope to heal up soon and get back to everything.  I'll still be conditioning lower body and everything, and maybe even experimenting with some one armed technique training.

In the Media / Outside Magazine October 2008
« on: September 13, 2008, 09:51:37 AM »
Demon and the COPK gang are featured in the latest issue of Outside Magazine (Oct. 2008).  I just happened to find it; I did not know it was going to be there.  The article is pretty good (I have not found it online; it is listed on the site as being included in the magazine, but I have only found the actual article in the magazine itself) and there is a video with Ryan and Sat online.  Only minor thing is the video title, "How to Parkour."  ;)  Other than that, it was pretty good!

Oklahoma / the OKPK website
« on: September 01, 2008, 07:04:59 PM »
Here's a little info for everyone regarding the OKPK website:

--I've been out of the country for quite a while and so it had been a while since it had been updated, but I updated it this evening!  So check it out.

--We've gotten TONS of emails.  That's great!  BUT there are so many it is very difficult to respond to all of them, and many of them are simply emails saying that the person wants to learn parkour.  So, if anyone is reading this and is interested in parkour, we encourage you to use the resources here on APK and also come to our training sessions.  But please only email us if you have a specific question regarding the trainings.

--I've updated the training times for 11am Saturday, 4pm 3pm Sunday Monday and Wednesday.

Oklahoma / Tulsa Jam POSTPONED
« on: April 10, 2008, 07:29:36 PM »
The introductory jam for Tulsa, originally scheduled for this Saturday, April 12th, is POSTPONED.  Sorry guys, but something came up suddenly that I have no control over!  But be certain, we WILL be rescheduling it!  Sorry to keep you Tulsans in suspense longer, but we'll be there soon!

As for OKC people, this might mean that the regular jam is back on for this Saturday, though I won't be able to make it.  Just wait for Chris's post or form your own jam!

Oklahoma / Stephane Vigroux Documentary
« on: March 06, 2008, 12:24:03 PM »
Hey!  This post is mainly directed to Gravyguy and his friend, but only because we were talking about this video at the training session on Wednesday.  I recommend EVERYONE watch this video.  It's one of the best I've seen.  It's kind of long (35 min), but just sit down and treat it like a TV show..it's SO good!

Funny, actually, somebody also posted about this video recently on one of the main boards, so it's getting a lot of attention around here lately!  ;D

Really Great jams / TULSA, REPRESENT!
« on: March 02, 2008, 09:10:18 PM »
Hey guys!  We've been getting TONS of emails from people in Tulsa wanting to do parkour!  That's awesome!

I've been in the works and talking with some people about hosting an introductory parkour jam in Tulsa soon, and the date is tentatively scheduled for APRIL 12th.  So mark your calendars!

I'll post more updates here as they become available.

Oklahoma / Oklahoma Show Yourselves!
« on: February 29, 2008, 12:19:34 PM »
So I was looking at the stats on how many posts/topics are in each state's subforum and let me just say, great job Oklahoma!  We obviously have an active parkour community simply by looking at the number of posts in our forum versus those in other forums.

But I have a feeling there are many people who never register for this site, or perhaps do and simply come on to read, that are from Oklahoma!  So if you're from Oklahoma and are interested in parkour, come on out and show yourselves!

I created this topic to remind everybody of the numerous opportunities to get involved in parkour in Oklahoma.  Right now we're meeting up 3 times weekly in Oklahoma City, and I'm working on getting some people to help start up things in the Tulsa area too!

I really enjoy natural environments for training and was looking on YouTube for good videos.  I found this one; perhaps it has been posted before, but I don't remember ever seeing it here.  It's really good.

Really Great jams / Stillwater Saturday?
« on: February 28, 2008, 04:29:46 AM »
Well, to quote myself from another thread...
Quote
HOWEVER, we need to plan a Saturday when everyone comes down (or up?) to Stillwater.  There are AWESOME places here I've been taking full advantage of, and you all need to come up and jam sometime!!!

...would you be interested in making that Saturday this Saturday, the 1st of March?  I was thinking we could meet around 1:00pm or so.  Tell me what you all think...and this includes EVERYONE, even if you just lurk here and never post  ;D  The best thing to do in learning parkour is to get to some jams!!!
