Movement / How to gain height in a kong?
« on: September 30, 2010, 02:41:05 PM »
Hey guys! I just got inside from finally being able to do kongs...I was figuring them out for about a week but I actually did a few hundred today. Lol. And I gotta say they feel amazing!! Anywho onto my question...Well I was kong vaulting a rail off my front porch and the rail is about 37 or 38 inches high...And I know that doesnt sound like much but im just gettin used to em. But I wanna know how to gain more height in a kong vault? Like I see videos of guys konging things up their shoulders and whatnot! Its crazy. And I use the "Run hop plant both feet and explode my energy from my legs and it propels me over about 37 inches. I tried to do the kong where its a split kong I believe? Where you dont plant 2 feet but I couldnt get used to it. But yeah how do I gain more elevation in my kongs? Thanks!

Movement / I roll from my left shoulder. Uhh?

Hey everybody! Im new to doing parkour and today I went outside to just practice up on my rolls. Well to learn to do them correctly pretty much. Well i watched probably 15 different tutorial vids and everyone says roll from your right shoulder to your left lower back. And I tried that and i kept hitting my head and my shoulder would hurt....So for the hell of it I rolled from my left shoulder to the right part of my lower back and presto! It worked. I didnt hit anything.Bump anything.Hurt anything and I came out of my roll with an extreme amount of momentum! So I just have a question...Why in all the vids do the say from right to left and I do it from left to right? Im right handed...Im right side favoring. Right is never wrong. So why do I roll starting at the left? And is there anything wrong with it? Thanks! Im sure by the time I reply ill have a few more questions. :)

Hey guys... Im kinda new to parkour so I wanna do some of it in a safe area first. Ive never stepped foot in a gymnasium but whatever...I live in morganton. Its like 30 mins from hickory. But does anyone know of a place to practice? And how much do they charge to let you just go in there and do your thing?

Parkour And Freerunning / 18...Too "Old" to start learning Parkour?
« on: September 20, 2010, 01:02:52 PM »
Hey everyone...Im new here and new to the world of parkour. Im 18. I'll be 19 in april. But a few years back when I was 15 I was gonna pick up parkour but I just couldnt cause I was short and kinda weak. 3 years goes by and I wanna really get into it. But lately ive noticed alot of like 13,14,15 year olds doing it. I know im not too "old" to do parkour(hell I only feel 15) but is there any downsides or upsides to learning it at this age? Thanks!
