What is this about telling him to buy shoes, thats stupid. i run with walmart brand and i can hit a 10 ft wall easy. (fyi- im about 5 foot 7).
I could be doing it wrong, but i have never swung my knee. Nor has any of the experienced traceurs i've trained with suggested it.
However, i have always been taught to swing my arms upwards as i jump and push off the wall. Bring your arms back just before you start bringing your leg up to plant on the wall. Then as you jump and plant your foot swing your arms upwards, you are running to get on top i presume so why not have your arms up in the air anyways.
Another thing is how you approach the wall. I know back in highschool when kids saw me running up a wall they would get 30 feet away and then try to run up it, epic fail. then to show off(i dont recommend unless you know for sure you can do it(but even then dont do it often)) I would stand a few steps from the same wall and run up it,epic win. dont get to far away or too close, as in my example until you can do it medium. just get about 10 ft away and jog not run. as you approach the wall as in a few steps away, then accelerate. Hope that helps
