Injuries - Discussion / Shoulder Pain
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:20:15 AM »
Well a couple weeks ago, I completely screwed a roll on grass, drove my shoulder right into the ground. I had alot of pain due to that. Now, Everytime I do any kind of roll, my shoulder hurts a LOT. This has been going on for about 3 weeks. What's the diagnosis Dr. Parkour?

I won't be able to come out regularly, as I live in St. Pete, but I'm gonna try to catch a Saturday class this week

Try not going over the obstacle at first, but just landing your feet on top of it. Get your feet closer and closer to the end of the obstacle until you feel comfortable enough to try and clear it with your legs trailing behind you instead of flailing out to the side.

It sounds like you have the power you need to clear the obstacle, all you need now is the confidence! Just go to a monkey-able obstacle and drill it for as long as it takes. It may take more than a day for you to develop that confidence and trust in your body, but stay on it and you'll get it.
I can definitely get over a picnic table widthwise, it just doesn't feel right. And how should I go about making my legs "trail behind me"?

Well, here's another lame beginner with trouble. Doing Monkey vaults AND Kong vaults, I can NEVER seem to get my legs between my arms. They always drift slightly to the left, and occasionally they'll clip the obstacle and I'll fall down. Is there any form of progression for me to fix this certain problem?

Parkour / First Kong.. I think?
« on: August 01, 2010, 03:37:35 PM »
Well today I went down to my park to work on my movements in general, decided to try my first Kong (I'm new). Anyway after a little progression I decided to try it, and I did it! I got dove, got over the table with out touching it, but I feel like my legs are going a little bit to the left. Any way to fix this?
