no one uses the forums here in Aero (chicagoland parkour community.) We do have a very frequently used facebook page though. Here it is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ChicagoParkour/

Finally got myself to condition. Gonna make this a daily or every 2 day thing.

Circuit 3x
3 pull ups
2 chin ups
15 regular push ups
8 diamond push ups
5 dips
30 sit ups
0:30 plank
0:30 side plank (each side)
1:00 superman

Weak, I know. Apparently my push ups got worse. Used to be able to do 30ish. Now 20 is my max. Gotta work harder on that.

Training Journals / Julie's Training log
« on: November 08, 2012, 09:28:44 PM »
I made one of these a long ass time ago and never actually used it XD now i'm too lazy to go dig it up in old threads. I figured I'll actually stick to this one and use it for motivation because i'm tired of being weak as hell. So I've been doing parkour for roughly 3 years, when i started i learned some movements and never actually conditioned. The last few months I've gotten serious about my parkour and so I really have to get stronger. I'm not as weak as most women because of martial arts (can do 30 normal push ups, 3 pull ups) After just training seriously once/twice a week for a while i've noticed how i went from no pull ups to 3, and how i've actually gotten much stronger without conditioning. Right now I just want to advance and be as good as the guys, if not better.

Goals:
Be able to do a climb up
10 pull ups
50 push ups
get dashes (for some reason i just can't get them)
get kashes
Make my percisions go farther
do a proper cat and be able to actually pull my self out of it
improve my kong percisions to 3ish/4ish feet
get more air on my front flips (and be able to take them out of the gym)
learn side flips
get my 540 kicks down

I want to get all of these by the end of the winter so that when spring starts, I won't be as much of a shitty traceuse as I am now.

I have dumbbells at home and I have no idea what exercises to do and how to do them. Can anyone tell me the basic dumbbell exercises for the basic muscle groups. Thanks!

General Fitness / Getting back in shape
« on: May 12, 2011, 08:40:51 AM »
Last August I messed up both my knees and my wrist (in an unfortunate incident with Canadian geese...) And in the winter where I live we had allot of snow when my knees finally healed. I did some cross country skiing but then people started shoveling everywhere so I couldn't do that either. Simply put:
I gained weight and lost my muscle. I can't even run a mile. What the hell do I do?
And the fact that I can't even run a mile is really getting me frustrated... Thanks for your help. I'm trying to run and work out but my schedule has been hectic . I guess I just need motivation and some advice. Thanks. And how do I build up to a mile. When I fist started running a few years back I could run a mile but now I can't.

I haven't been doing anything lately... This week was my birthday so there was tons of cake to eat... And of course I couldn't resist. Starting tomorrow I'll start having a more regular schedule for conditioning and I swear I'll find that pull up bar some time soon (I hope.)

Ya... I was at colossal last year. I'm the girl that got kicked in the face and got a concussion...

Today I did:
15 girly push ups
10 crutches
10 twisty crutches (each side)
And attempted to do door pull ups. I couldn't even do one... Looks like my wrist is still messed up from when I got (nearly) mauled by canadian geese...

I'll do better on thursday... Today I was REALLY short on time...

Hi. Wow you've been really dedicated to training (unlike forgetful me...  :P) I wish I had a parkour gym near by. Here where I'm at there's a meter of snow... So we Chicago traceurs (and traceuses) have to improvise with training. Thanks for commenting on my training log. Good luck with training!

Today has been a very tiring day for me... Well not really. I walked 4 miles and cross country skied 5 miles. I honestly never expected to ski more than 1... Well that just proves if you are determined to so something you'll do it. And I actually felt really refreshed after skiing, not tired like I should have been.

Yesterday I walked 2 miles (to the library and back)

Hi TraceuseDS!! Hows it going? Yesterday I ended up not going down town. Instead of jogging I went cross country skiing (around my neighborhood) for about an hour. That was tiring... And rolls in waist-high snow are more like... well yeah... they're faceplants...

Today is the same as on Tuesday. I do resistance exercises on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and Aerobic on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. So I follow the same schedule all week.

And I (TRY TO) do yoga daily (well when I remember which is not that often...) to get flexible (wall flips here I come!)

Yesterday I snowboarded all day ( I guess that counts since I am extremely sore today...)

Today the same as last time. I haven't been conditioning for a while because of exams and holidays and so forth but from today on I shall condition everyday (except sundays. Then I snowboard.) I want to accomplish my goals before winter is over!

Training Journals / A Traceus' Training Log
« on: December 23, 2010, 05:19:07 PM »
Hi. I'm going to start a traing log to help keep track of my training and for motivation.

Goals:
60 second frog stance
50 push ups, front/side/back lunges
To get into better condition for parkour (of course)
Be able to do all the basic vaults, do a 2 step wall run, perfect rolls, and a wall flip/ back flip/ front flip/ handsprings wouldn't hurt

Thursday, December 23, 2010

5 push ups (regular)
10 prone back raises
10 crutches
10 squats
10 front lunges

repeat 3x

I'm starting out small right now ( but hope to advance quickly.)

Injuries - Discussion / knee pain while running?
« on: September 15, 2010, 11:21:50 AM »
Well I'm jogging to stay fit for parkour. After about one minute of jogging (with warm up and walking to warm up) My right knee starts hurting so much that I can't run. I have not done parkour in a while (i'm currently just conditioning and on break) But maybe quadrupedal movement is causing this? I tried qm two days ago for the first time. Maybe thats it?

Thanks for your support! ;D

There have been some problems coming up...
Trouble :'(:
My right knee hurt so bad when I started running I ended up only doing about one lap... My lower back cracks while I do sit ups. I've had some back pain (probably from improper posture while sitting at school) and shoulder pain too. I'll fix that and today I'll just settle with yoga to relax my joints.

I'm in 8th grade too! (And my 8th grade is harder. I take all honors freshman classes) and school is not really getting in the way of school for me... (maybe its to do with my hyperactivity. I get my energy back fast. Really fast...)
