Day 22 - Today I tried running on my ankle... and SUCCEEDED!!! =) Im super happy about that, but I still cant jump off it yet... still need more time

Day 23 - Today I did therapy, and while I was waiting for the bike, I did some endurance training for upper body/chest... lets just say I was pretty sore afterwards =)

Day 24 - No practice today, however I did run for a while, and also worked on some handstands... Just throwing this out there, more than likely, I will not begin parkour until next month... this was/is/will be a recovery month... next month is where the real fun begins =D

Day 20 - I truly did nothing today, I simply rested. I needed a day like this... I have been very tired lately o.o

Day 21 - Today I went out and played 18 holes of golf, just to put weight on my ankle... I am definitelly tired now, after doing that, then trying to play volleyball :/ Im gonna sleep forever

Day 18 - I was close to getting in today, but I didnt. My ankle still isnt fully recovered yet, but more than likely I will be completely back by next week monday. I did therapy biking for 15 minutes, then did ankle  resistance training with weights. While I was waiting for the bike, I did pullups, leg lifts, and a few other workouts. Im truly looking forward to monday now!! =)

Day 19 - I found out something strange today, and kinda a little terrifying. Since I got my braces (last week Tuesday), I have lost 10 pounds... this was NOT intentional. I dont know if I lost muscle or fat, nor if I can get it back, but its a little strange. Ill try to take advantage of this, and put on muscle. If anyone has any tips on gaining lean muscle, please let me know! =)

Day 17- Sasme as usual, with the bike, therapy, and such. However, today, I recieved some amazing news. If the swelling in my ankle goes down more tonite, tomorrow I will be able to start practicing again!!!!! =D I am literally so ready for this! =) Anyway, I did about 20-25 pullups, and stretched for a little bit.

Tomorrow is (hopefully) where the real fun begins! =)

Movement / Random question: Rolls, and the shoulder you land on
« on: March 28, 2012, 10:36:04 AM »
Alright, so this has been bugging me for a while. A few days ago, I practiced my rolls, mainly because I cant do anything else, and I need to perfect them, and while I was working on them I discovered something. It felt more comfortable, completely without pain even, on my opposite shoulder.

My question is this; should I stick to using my opposite shoulder, even though I am not exactly super strong on my left side, or should I practice my right shoulder roll until it is without pain? Or should I work on both? Advice, please!! :/

Day 16 - I went to track therapy today, rode on the bike for a good 12 minutes, and then went back and did a few ankle exersizes. My ankle's swelling is nearly gone, thank God! =) Anyway, afterwards I did about 10 quick pullups, then went home. Today was more of a recovery day for me, mainly because this would have been a leg day, but since the ankle I couldnt really do anything :/

Ill post todays workout a little later

Thanks! =) I am glad I was able to join the bandwagon lol =D

Day 15 - Went to track practice, and rode the bike for about 10 minutes, then had therapy for my ankle... Its getting much better!! =) Tonight I will be doing some pk recovery training, working on strength in upper body, balance overall with catwalks, and a little therapy of my own =)

At the gym tonite, I worked on slight therapy training; ankle flexes, stretching  it out very lightly, and calf raises. Other than that, I worked on my handstands for a while, and I did about 60-70 pushups, as well as 110 situps plus about a minute worth of bycicles.

I have a question for anyone who can answer. Does anyone know any good ankle recovery training ideas? If you do, post please =)

Its been a few days since my last post, mainly because I have been very busy lately. So here is an update on my injury. Its been 9 days since my injury, and it is healing nicely. I am almost completely recovered (swelling wise) however, my strength is not completely back yet. I was not moving it for the past few days, and as such I was not training; today that ends.

Day 14- Went for almost a 2 1/2 hour bike ride, just to test my ankle's range of motion... as of right now, its pretty good. Then two or three muscle ups, and did about 100 pushups. Later tonight i will be playing volleyball

Day 5- The injury didnt really hold me back in my competition, however I severely sprained my ankle, falling on it from about 9 feet... O.O

Day 3- I am in trouble! This is seriously not good O.O

Let me explain. Today we had a weigh in; one that no one told me about. So I ended up being .8 lbs over the weight i needed. So i have to move up to a pole that is 5 pounds stronger than I am used to... and I have to be used to it by friday. O.o

Anyway, today was a simple workout. Just went to track, did all the training, then went to work for an hour and a half, then came home and worked out a little: about 100 pole vaulter pushups, a few pullups, and a quick 20 stair runs. I am ready for tomorrow!

Day 2- Went to track practice, but missed the beginning run and nearly missed the warmup due to an ortho appointment. Anyway, did major stretching today, and it felt amazing. After that we went to the pole vault area, and worked on that till about 6:00. I worked very hard today, doing more than I usually do, and was able to clear 8 feet, and nearly 10 feet (About 1/2 inch off... will get it thursday!) on my first day!!
To wrap up, I helped move the mats back into the shed, which is pretty far away, and I did 75 pole vaulter push ups... =)

More than likely, in a little while, I will work on handstands for a little bit, then do some leg training.

Today is the first day. Yes, I restarted, mainly because last week was very hectic, and I found out that monday would be a better day to start for me. So here we go!
Day 1- Started out by going to track practice, which consists of running a half mile, doing running knee lifts, butt kicks, kick-outs, left to right kicks, feet shuffle and backwards run, then strechting for about 10 minutes. Afterwards I went to my event training, and that lasted from about 4:00 to 6:00. I found out that I am starting out in my teams JV meet on friday! Cant wait!! =)

Anyway, later today, at about 8:30, I will be going to a gym to work on a few things, such as; Wall backflip, standing backflip, frontflip, wall frontflip, sideflip, and back handstpring. I will start out with the wall backflip, mainly because that is what I need to get back the most.

Day 1/Gym- Well, this is the results... I need strength training. A lot of it. So, more than likely, I will not be going to the gym, and instead doing the WOD along with parkour training. Im just very tired. I hope tomorrow will work out for the better.

I have been looking over all the people who are doing this, and I have been inspired greatly. To everyone who is doing this, Great Job! =)

Alright, so to start off, I am going to list off a few stats, then what I hope to accomplish when this is over.

Name: Peter Szozda
Age: 16
Height: 6'
Weight: 154
Current ability: Kong; Single and Double
Speed, Dash, Kash vault
Frontflip; standing and with punch
Backflip; standing
Roundoff; improving
Handstand; 15 seconds max

What I want to improve; Handstand time and ability to do handstand pushups
Wall backflip (I had this ability, but lost it over time. I will regain it soon!)
Gainer (Very close to this)
Wall Frontflip; Just need to improve flip speed
J-kick
Tumbling
*Other ideas to come

This page will be the center of accomplishments. I will post everything I do on a more recent post, but when I accomplish something, I will cross it off here... like so.
Backflip

Well, just a few other things before I begin. I have just started track, so sometimes that might count as my workout, due to the amount of time I have. This will end eventually though, and my training will become devoted to parkour at that time. In the mean time, I will be looking for someone to train with. If anyone is in the Oak Creek area, hit me up! My Phone number is 414-813-7537

Alright! And so it begins!

Also, please hold me accountable! If I forget, just bombard my phone or something! Thanks!

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Should i join gymnastics?
« on: February 10, 2012, 05:25:00 PM »
Well, as Parkour and Freerunning were founded on the very basis of gymnastics and martial arts, it would be an excellent idea to join. It will allow you to gain agility, flexibility, strength and stamina that most people do not have. It would help you with overcoming your fears and teaching you to stick with something for the long run.

Quick question... should I post the shorter version of the paper, or the full version?

18
I will! =)

Thanks to everyone who helped! Seriously guys, you helped a ton, and Im not even joking. The planning for the paper is nearly done, and I will start writing it tomorrow!  :)

Once again, thanks guys!

Hey guys, I need your help. Recently, I was given the assignment to write a research paper on something I love, and this topic was at the front of my head. However, I am having trouble with it. I can find the history of Parkour quite easily, but what I am having trouble with is finding any information on its effect on society, or everyone's daily lives. If anyone knows of a newspaper article, an interview, a movie, or something that describes how it effects society, I would greatly appreciate it if you could post them below.
