Diet / A total newb.
« on: December 05, 2010, 05:34:41 PM »
So I've been active to these forums for years now, but have rarely ever ventured outside of the Hawaii and movement sections of the forums.

Just recently I've decided that instead of just working out/training like a boss, I wanted to start eating right as well(that and a little bet that I have).

Problem is, I am totally ignorant.

I've literally spent the last 3 days lurking and taking notes on all the stickies and reading up on past threads in the Diet section to try and get a general idea. Previously I adopted Jujimufus(now non existent) little guide on eating correctly, and that was more of "heads up this is what I do" type thing without any actual guidelines.

So, a little about myself. I'm 5'9" and between 150-160lbs so I would guess that I'm just about the right weight for my height. Then again, I really have no clue.

I am very active, I lift weights nearly everyday, and I train Parkour/Freerunning,Soccer,Tricking,Muay Thai as often as I can. So I'm not some slouch looking to get active in life, I am and have been a very active kid[16]. I'm not really a unhealthy eater, I don't eat fast foods ever but I'm not exactly, strictly a healthy eater if you know what I mean.

I read up on that Paleo Diet and it seems very nice, but I am still very confused.

It stated that you should cut out bread/grains entirely. At first I was like "D: Wtf insanity?" then lurked a bit in the white/wheat bread thread and found it pretty logical. Heres the thing though, I still want to be able to eat things like Kimchee fried rice occasionaly.
So would it be ok if I ate things like that with moderation?

I also keep hearing about this 4:1 grain:protein PWO ratio and i'm kinda curious about that.

I''m looking for some people to point me towards some in depth articles, or enlighten me with knowledge of their own.

In advance, thanks.

Actually. After reading up a bit on it.
I think if we did have the jam that day, we would have to be EXTREMELY mindful, looks like the streets are gonna be really crowded.

I was 10 years old.
My Dad just passed away.
I needed something to do.
My older brother linked me to some youtube vids.
Started training.
No more emotional build up
All vented through movement.
Hooked ever since.

On another note, next jam is just gonna be a blast!
Im going to TRY and structure jams a bit more.
Ryan, might need your help with ideas and what not.
Everyone, bring also your ideas to the table.

Im gonna be sharing some "new" games and experiences from my training with Parkour Generations from my last trip.

Some drills and other exercises to share that you will all be benefited by.
Small Q&A session for any new comers or anyone who just want to throw questions out there.

We will also set a time to talk about possible projects and ideas for the community (Leave no Trace, Awareness events etc). It is about time HIpk pics up a bit more and even though we dont have a whole lot of "work" force, we gotta do with what we got  ;D

What: Community Jam
When: Sunday the 26th
Where: Ala Moana Beach Park
                    Location's Map
Its the very center of the park, where the road curves around. You will see some white walls and pillars. We will meet in the center of the field nearest to the ocean where the banyan trees are.
Meeting time: Start arriving from 10:30 we will get started at 11am until at least 3pm
Notes: Might be hot, bring sun block if needed.
There is water fountains but never too much water to be had so you can also bring your own.
Well stay at one spot so coolers and snacks are highly suggested if we want to stay longer and just be.
The ocean is right there so bring swimming trunks.
Cameras (vide/photo) are suggested as well.

This will be a highly transited area. Please be mindful of any by standers.
Any inquiries, if you do not know how to answer questions get Ryan, David or myself.

This is a rough idea of how is gonna go guys and gals so please be on time.

 11:00 to 11:30- warm up.
 11:30 to 1:00- drills-games-movement.
 1pm to 1:30- lunch break
 1:30 to 2:30- more movement.
 2:30 to 3:00- warm down, feedback, Q&A.

I hope to see you all there.

I was amazingly overwhelmed at the location.
A Jam I can make it to with out being arsed by my madre rofl.

I look forward to seeing everyone after being so inactive in the community.

Last thing I went to was Ozzis seminar. >___<
Ill try to bring out the Aiea cats, and some of the new-new-newbies I've been working with.
Hell, I might copy paste this into a text document.
Trim it down, add some pictures. And post some fliers up around school.

Oh and Ozzi.
Projects for the community,
I have some ideas that I would like to share with you.
