Parkour And Freerunning / Re: New stop the bullshit campaign - Post Limits

You have a god point also. And btw, alts would also encourage trolls directly, since unless they make the username something like [username]'s alt,  then they might be urged to troll since only mods and admins would be able to find out who they really are.

3 posts a seems kinda strict to me.just because someone posts a lot doesn't mean they aren't saying things meaningful and contributing to the community, I know a guy called marvulus on a forum for a mmo game that has over 10k posts on his main account, and even more on his alts. he is one of the most helpful and respected people there. And, the game has only been around for 2 or 3 years.  Speaking of alts, this might encourage some people to make alts to post with. Which could, in turn, lead to more problems unless you decide to allow only 1 account per ip address,  although the truly desperate can simply change their ip.

Gate vaults. They are fun to do, look cool,  have a purpose, and are kind of easy once you get over the fears that come with it: fear if slipping and landing on your head, hitting your head on the fence\rail, getting top much momentum and losing control, etc ;)

saw a video on it, then i watched some of the tutorial videos on simple vaults, so i vaulted over my couch a few times  :-X

looked it up a little more, learned some more stuff, and.... yeah

i agree. all of us here know and understand what parkour is but the everyday civilian doesn't. all they see is what is shown in the media like movies and videos. But most of the time those tracours in the videos are showing off and doing unnecessary stunts for the camera. so as tracours we need to take a step back and view this through their eyes; its easy to see where their opinions come from.

sometimes, especially in movies, they dont even realize that there is a name for what they are doing.

it annoys me, but honestly i dont blame them.

Holy shit. You don't know how scary it is not to be able to breathe until you have an experience where you think you're going to die of suffocation.

ive had something similar happen to me before.

it wasn't fun.

... shouldnt your fingers be callused from playing guitar
yes... imo thats the best way to go, since that way it doesnt really hurt or leave dents in your fingers after playing for a while

"it looks like a great way to die"

"I don't consider it a sport. Parkour/free running is just stupidity from people with a death wish. Of course it isn't safe, that's the entire point."

"It's awesome to watch, but yeah, you have to be a touch insane to do it."

"Are you seriously asking if jumping randomly from building to building is safe? What do you think, Charles?"

"Let me put it this way. One of the reasons I'm still alive is because I don't do this."

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: Its gonna be cold. To cold.
« on: August 31, 2010, 06:27:54 PM »
yes, sort of. i ignore things like precisions on slippery surfaces, where i could fall easily and stuff like that. i usually wear grippy gloves, so i dont slip that way either, because even though gloves reduce "feel", in the cold your hands would be numb anyway.

I know they did a Ripley's Believe it or Not... on them.

i facepalmed many times throughout that video.
especially at

"a cross between ballet and building jumping"
"these city kids have invented a radical past time"
"should never under any circumstances be attempted by amateurs" (you have to start somewhere right?)
"like a choreographed dance"
"some of the obstacles the Yamakasi tackle are so dangerous we can't even show them on Ripley's" (there have been worse things on that show before)

here is how it went. me and some friends were walking to a spot, and this guy reported us because he thought we were going to get on a roof so a police officer came and started talking to one of us and was like
"were you going to get on a roof"
he said "no..."
"ok... i know colby is back there!" (there wasnt anybody named colby there  ??? )
blah blah blah
"..."
"stay safe" drives off.
