Socialize / Re: A Cure for Cancer
« on: May 30, 2011, 09:32:58 AM »
I did some research. This is a legitimate treatment for cancer, and shows promise for treatment in a variety of individuals. It has been reported in scientific journals and is out there in the scientific and public world. Pharmaceutical companies may not provide funding, but other organizations (charities, government programs) could provide funding.

The problem is that prolonged use of this anticancer drug, ironically, causes liver cancer and liver failure. People taking doses of this drug without approved clinical methods and supervision from their doctor soon find themselves with both regular cancer and liver failure. It is also a neurotoxin that damages sensory motor skills for prolonged periods of time in variable doses.

There, so far, is no "miracle drug" for the curing of cancer. However, this looks like it could be a cheaper, more reliable, and less damaging treatment than chemotherapy.

Here are a few references to augment what's been said (you may have already found them. These are instances where it's been portrayed in a bad light).,2933,527265,00.html

The Fox one is surprisingly good, actually, but it has a quote from a doctor that's pretty useful.

I never know if people know about these yet---

Socialize / What kinda podcasts/radio shows do you like?
« on: May 03, 2011, 12:57:37 PM »
I just got the idea to ask this because "Stuff You Should Know" just did an (excellent) podcast on parkour. What kind of podcasts, if any, do you listen to?

I love them, I listen to Radiolab and This American Life, and I would recommend TalkRadar to anyone interested in videogames/hilarity. Podcasts from (like the aforementioned Stuff You Should Know) are fantastic as well.

I think what I'd like is more of an actual, relevant institution relating more towards talking to local cities, police stations, and having voting options for the parkour community in general over certain issues related to this. I think it would be cool to have a real, national jam that was partially supported by a city, which would be relative to this organization.

The WFPF are cool and all...but what have they done that APK hasn't? They made a shoe and a tv show...but APK made a TV show and also supports Leave No Trace, local traceurs, and all kinds of other stuff, so in reality, what does that title mean? It's another site, which is fine, but it's not something like a real organization yet. Heck, maybe if this gets off the ground it could partner with the WFPF, that would work.

Btw, that email isn't working for me, so here is mine instead:

Parkour And Freerunning / Re: New Organization to Legitimize Parkour

I'd like to have a real organization, like what the WFPF was supposed to be. They took the name, but I don't really see them doing anything with the title, other than the MTV show.

Plus they kinda lose their legitimacy when the end every facebook post with "PARKOUR!!!!!!".

Would love to help support this in whatever way you need besides monetary, as I have very little of that.

I don't think it's a scam like they just took your money, but you're probably getting ripped off.

You know, as far as rap goes, I wish I could find more like this, the Boondocks opening theme. Suggestions?

Squirrels for sure. I love squirrels.

first of all never ever ever ever trust anything from fox news this could just be a staged event  :-Sarcasm

None of the major news corps are trustworthy, but as a rule anything off of Fox or a Fox affiliate just isn't even worth making fun of, it's so terrible.

I think we need to promote up APK's what is parkour page some more like you did, it's a great resource for countering this type of stuff.

In the Media / Re: 1000 Ways to Die

I liked it, and no, the story isn't true I'm sure. They basically said parkour is about mind, body, soul etc, but if you go at it for daredevil stuff you're gonna get hurt, which is what we've been pushing anyway.

I think what he's going for is that a lot of the time, the guys would just do front flips and back flips over obstacles and then just kinda run around and pull a trick on the ground (with the commentators just going "Wow, that's hard." over and over again). It's what had to happen given the context of the show and the way the freestyle rounds were set up.

That said, at least twice a show I see someone do something completely and utterly ridiculously awesome. I love the speed rounds, they're pretty intense.

Shun the non believer! Shuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

I think Parkour should become a cult. I proclaim myself supreme leader. Breakfast is on the Eiffel tower at 8. Don't be late or we take your shoes.

I would maybe go for a bouldering crashpad if you really want to get padding.

$10 Wal-Mart no-name watch. Digital, has a timer, an alarm, and lights up. Velcro strap, all black. It's perfect.

This is what I've usually done. They're not bad actually, though they do tend to lost time after awhile and you need to reset them.

Another option could be a podcast. I know N.A. Parkour did one for awhile, you can't any of its episodes anymore so I don't know how it was though.

I love podcasts, I listen to them all the time. Would love a PK related one.

Just another idea.

Search for Kennesaw and try to get in contact with who shows up! (Under "Member Center" top right, "Search for Traceurs")
