Movement / Re: Balancing IDEALLY on balls of feet or whole feet?
« on: September 05, 2012, 02:36:23 PM »
Ideally the entire foot should be on the rail, with most of the weight distributed on the balls of the feet. I recommend starting on a low rail barefoot if you're having real major problems, then working up to shoes. Less variables in with the lack of padding.

Its probably almost absolutely you're not lifting your chest when untucking. You should lift your chest like someone is pulling you to the ceiling with a rope. Get it?

I had a pair of free's...the darts are much better and more durable for parkour use. Not to mention half the price. Get the Darts.   http://www.zappos.com/nike-dart-8-black-black-white-metallic-silver

Hey guys Cody Here!

I know how difficult it may seem to be to train in a rural area or if you live in a bigger city without others that are interested in PK. The important thing is that you network both locally AND regionally so that you can train with others that can help you get on the right track with your training and get you excited about progression! Friend me on Facebook. Cody Robinson Auburn, AL. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have on here and if you contact me personally. My cell is 251-752-0239 shoot me a text.

Take Care Guys!

I know it seems like a bit of a drive (hour and a half). But Auburn Parkour has been training for over 4 years and would be happy to get your basic knowledge base up! even just a few hours with a group that has been training for a while will send you leaps ahead of where you are training by yourself! Friend me on facebook if you want to come train with us and we will be happy to accommodated a training session for your schedule!

Injuries - Discussion / Re: My knee(s)
« on: August 24, 2010, 11:04:25 PM »
Hi I don't post here often. But I've been training parkour for 4 1/2 years. I organize the scene at Auburn University.
What You're describing sounds more like a problem with flexibility and a muscle imbalance. I've had a few of out guys (including me about a year ago) have these problems. Stretch your hamstrings more. And I mean every angle of your hamstring. Bend over, feet together, and do your basic stretch, hold it for 20-30 secs. then turn your toes outward, do the same, then inwards, the same. Stay away from drops/jumps for a while until your pain disappears. Jogging is fine though. Many people i find get misdiagnosed with PT and OS when they simply have a muscle imbalance and ignore good stretching.  I didn't know this until I talked with a sports therapist. Try it out, stretching, it's not what the doctor ever orders!

Consumer Whores / Re: Power Balance Wristbands
« on: May 03, 2010, 05:56:46 AM »
my wife bought me one of these as a gift on our anniversary when she went to a golf show. She got it a lot cheaper, I would have killed her if she spent 30 bucks. I've had it for around 6-7 months and i can tell everyone that they have no effect. I wear mine just because she gave it to me. and i guess it doesn't HURT my balance or anything....lol

« on: May 03, 2010, 05:31:12 AM »
I have the Chase. I got them last week and i have to say. They are pretty stiff at first. But i normally wear boots at my job any way so its not that big of a deal for me. Beforehand i had the f-lite 230. they wear literally like slippers. A flexible shoe has a lot of advantages, but so does a supportive shoe, esp. one with stealth rubber! The chase is a huge improvement on the freerunner.

Just a note, V5F are not all around perfect. They tear up in the toes for a lot of people.

You guys need to get over it. We'll see how it goes once some people get to test them out. Be happy that there are some $40 parkour specific shoes out there! Not to mention that the WFPF is a parkour organization and not a rock climbing trail running company. That being said, I own the 5.10 Chase right now lol.

Also, since everyone has already given great advice regarding using your arms more, you might try to build the muscle in your shoulders and backup more, provides extra cushion for the acute bone hitting. Like I said everyone already covered the tech. basis, just think that extra muscle helps a lot with rolls.
