I don't know about the pain you described, but I do know this. If you have pain, it is probably important. Well, actually, it is important in any situation. Pain is your body telling you something is wrong or different. So you should definitely get that checked out.
My Vibrams are AMAZING!!! They correct your walking form and also eliminate the problems that normal shoes create (such as a padded heel, upturned toes, rolling steps, and arch support). I have noticed that my feet are stronger than they used to be since I started wearing them. These 'shoes' are also supposed to correct some of the conditions people have with their feet and knees. I definitely recommend buying a pair. The only drawbacks are that they are expensive, you probably want socks with them (TRUST me on this one, they smell without) - which are also expensive, and they have a 'pocket' that seems to collect debris when you land in a bunch of loose stuff. Other than that, they are amazing.
