Rather than repeat it - I "second" Tim's list - it's perfect

don't skip and skimp on the basics, and train them often too... just because you might be able to do a PK roll, doesn't mean you shouldn't work it

Hey Mazead! We are in Clearwater (my son and I) - we train mostly in my backyard

and I created a map of Clearwater where a few of us are marking good Parkour spots

I have dreams of building a Parkour Gym here in Clearwater, in the near future hopefully!

Just to follow up on this - I contacted the supervisor of parks and recreation for the city and he forwarded me the statute they are going by and it "Prohibits organized or dangerous sports" in public parks, and they are considering Parkour a dangerous sport (no doubt because of the daredevils you see on YouTube if you search "Parkour") I tried to explain that we don't do that kind of stuff, and it's not dangerous, but they said a big "no" - so I started building stuff in my backyard :) got a 7' tower - 8' high bars and a 3' wall so far - where there's a will..... ;)

I'm in Clearwater, FL and would love to get to Orlando more often and train with all the guys there (Andy Taylor, etc)  some cool stuff in Orlando!

Parkour And Freerunning / getting kicked out
« on: September 07, 2014, 04:17:00 PM »
Hey guys - got "kicked out" of the park today for doing Parkour - I live right in front of a public park and I've built a few things (vault, precisions, etc) and they basically told us we can't bring our own equipment to train on (all the while there's people on tennis courts, and personal soccer goals, etc all around) I tried to explain to them that our equipment isn't that dissimilar to other sports equipment and it's actually safer if we train on our stuff rather than jump on what's at the park - they were unmoved, basically a lack of understanding of our sport I suppose - but it's sooo frustrating - how do you guys deal with getting kicked out?

Hey guys - here's a video my son (14 yo) has been working on all summer, he finally got it finished and he did a really good job - plus did all the editing himself - he doesn't get on the forums here so if you'd post an encouraging note on the video that'd be awesome! :)

Thanks for watching!

I am 45... you are never too old!

as far as your weight - I am trying to shed a few pounds because I have a muscle up as a goal, so unless you have some specific goal in mind, or a reason you think you should be lighter, don't worry about it too much, just train, it'll all balance out I'm sure

Looks like some very cool spots you have around you - we will find them eventually around here or I'll build them myself LOL :)

In one of your video's description you say "I'm not very good" - and I disagree and I enjoyed watching your videos as much as I enjoy any others, so don't be too hard on yourself ;)

I don't think I posted in here yet :)

Hey everybody - Jamie here... I'm 45 and I train with my son, Cameron, who is 14... as most "old people" like me will probably tell you - we've been training "Parkour and freerunning" since we were kids ;) our moms just called it being stupid LOL anyway I used to do all sorts of "backyard gymnastics", Martial Arts, diving (both cliff and springboard), etc.. Since we were introduced to parkour through ANW like a lot of people, we've really gotten bit by the bug!

Right now we mostly train in the park behind our house, but I'm seriously considering opening up a parkour / Freerunning gym here in Clearwater, Florida because there's not a lot around here, it's sooo hot, and I think people need a place to train safely

anyway check out channel, there's not much on there but there will be ;)
