Title: Map of APK traceuses
Post by: woodsykris on August 20, 2010, 01:10:24 PM
Ladies -

I thought it would be cool to have a map showing the location of all the traceuses on APK. I made a map on my google maps, which I have allowed collaboration from anyone with this URL: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=102451600237390177887.00048e47a97995eff13de&ll=42.024814,-93.625488&spn=46.283385,79.013672&z=4

At least I think it will work.

Try clicking on the map link and adding your location if you wish.  Who knows, there may be a lady within driving distance to train with.

I added my location. :) It came up as a blue dot instead of a balloon-looking thing, but at least it's there. :)

I hope you don't mind a Canuck adding her mark. I marked my Parkour gym as my local if you are ever in Calgary I recommend dropping by, we have a fair amount of traceuses training here

Hit edit, then it'll have, on the map, on the upper left corner, it'll have like a hand, a blue marker, and something else. Click the blue marker and put it there, then follow the rest. :)

I'm sure I don't even need to say this... but just in case:

Make sure not to put the marker directly over your house ;) These forums are publicly accessible.

Maybe the OP can edit the first post and include this?

I put two pins down, if that's alright. One for where I go to college, and one where I go home for the summer...

So far there's no one near me, but I suppose that's to be expected. I've only seen about two or three traceurs down here in Florida in my life. I know of a group that meets at USF, but they meet at the most random and inconvenient times (probably just practicing between classes), and since I'm still in high school, I can never make their meets. I'm not sure if I would go if I could though; they're pretty advanced from what I hear. And I'm an absolute beginner. :P

I'm on there now!

Freeflow! I've been training in FL for a while! FLPK will be hosting a statewide women's jam sometime this summer. In fact, within the next week I will be planning it. I see you're in Tampa. There's quite a few skilled traceurs out there, indeed! They are all really friendly, though. Check out facebook.com/floridaparkour and floridaparkour.org. At our .org site, you can find a rep near you and give them a call/text or shoot them an email and they should be able to come out and train with you.

Also, in late May we are having some start up training sessions for the growing community in Tampa. I don't have the exact date with me now but check out our resources and we will be posting info for it soon! Our main hub of leadership is in Orlando but we have delegates all over the state and we have monthly meetings over skype about what we can do for the community. This is summer is going to be awesome! Can't wait to meet you and train :) For now, start small with some conditioning and learning how your body moves!

Thanks! I'm concentrating on learning how my body moves now. Yesterday I did my first roll from a height above my chest and it felt amazing. :) Mostly I've just been doing some body weight exercises to build up some upper body strength. I've got some weak arms. :P But I'll check out thos upcoming sessions this summer. I hope I can get out there!

Not at all. If you live in more than one place, that's quite all right!

I live in George West, Texas, and train in Corpus Christi, Texas with Corpus Christi Parkour.  I'm having a hard time tagging myself on the map, though.

All right ladies. When you click the link it'll pop up with the map and have all the markers on it correct?

So where it says Get Directions & My Places on the left hand side underneath that it should have all of our locations. Right next to the name Bridgette Byrne (woodsykris) the edit button is right there. Click that. Then it'll have, on the map, on the upper left corner, it'll have like a hand, a blue marker, and something else. Click the blue marker and put it there, then follow the rest.

If you need anymore help just ask. :)

Done!

I made note of where I train and where I live, since the two are over an hour's drive apart. :)

Ok, I got it. Thanks Ashley. I had to make a google account before the edit button would show.  ::) Lol!
I also marked two places. One is Carmichael where I'm currently living and probably will be living for another year or so, and another in Redding, my REAL home.

Hey! I'm coming down to Provo for college in the fall! Do you still go there?
