Title: "Water Weight"
Post by: Alec H on October 26, 2009, 12:30:04 PM
What's all this water weight people are talking about?  It involves soda or something?  I've been drinking Mountain Dew for about 6 years, at least 1.5 of them per day (Some days 1 and some days 2).  I plan on stop drinking pop all together (except parties, which is like 1 every other month).  If I switch over to water, what will this do to my "water weight" or whatever it is.

Also, I read somewhere "However you should eat when your body is giving you hunger signals."  Are these signals such as, a rumble in your stomach, or it making an odd noise?

Water weight essentially refers to the weight of excess water your body holds in and around the natural fluid of your cells (extra-cellular fluid). Extra water retention is caused by a few things, among them High carb, processed diets and excess sodium.

People who take on low-carb diets tend to lose quite a bit of water weight within a week or so.

Cutting Mountain Dew will be a good Idea in general. You're likely to experience caffiene withdrawl symptoms, which can be somewhat remedied by drinking more water. I'm not sure if cutting the pop will be enough to cause you to lose water weight, but it might a bit.
