1) Read steves article on constructing a workout plan
2) learn the meaning of rest day -- Monday is not a rest day if you are doing activity
3) ID your goals

seriously, more people need to read that god damn article.  I have a BS in Engineering with a focus on exercise physiology not to mention a couple of years of independent research on constructing routines and nutrition.  If I have all of that background and can still learn a ton from that article, then you will learn even more.  Take advantage of it.  Not many people have a community with such a simple breakdown of how to construct an efficient and effective routine.

A lot of threads wouldn't need to be started if people read that article.  And a lot of threads would be a lot higher quality and more productive to the poster and community if people read that article first.

um the fact that i have to walk home from school (hence the 3 miles on weekdays)
theres really nothing i can do
plus its just pushups and situps
so thats why thats all i do on rest days
also not if you want me to read an article then how about suggesting to do it in a nicer way next time  ::)

and yes i do have goals

my main goal:
go from 215 lbs to 180

then my minor goals:
be able to do a handstand and hold it
increase my overall appearence (muscles and stuff)
be able to do a front flip on the ground
be able to do a kong vault
increase my jumping height and distance

smallest goals that i am currently working on:
perfect my reverse vault
learn to do a palm spin
learn precisions on rails
increasing jumping distance

as a matter of fact i have read the article and i have it printed out in a notebook and thats how this routine came about

now i dont see why you gave me -1 for doing nothing to deserve it

i didnt ask any questions but like 1 which was "im up for changes if this isnt good"

unless the article can answer if this is a good schedule or not then by all means i would bow to that article

im 15 years old and i keep glancing back on that article from time to time and i still cant completely understand what its saying because it uses alot of body building terms in which i dont get

i think its a great article
i just think ill understand it completely with time

so all im asking if this is a good routine (a yes or no answer)

and some pointers to make it better

this is a forum for people to help each other and share knowledge and im using it for just that

How to construct a workout routine boils down to this:

1. Select goals
2. Select exercises that match your goals (or will help you progress towards your goals).
3. As you improve make sure your exercises are in line with your goals *****AND***** you are constantly progressing.
4. Reach your goals.

1 is not very hard at all and everyone can do this. Some goals were good while others were poor (because they are not quantifyable). I honestly don't even think you read that part. You need good goals.

2 and 3 are the meat of everything though. Does your workout match your goals? Yes or no? Do you have a progression you can use for your workouts to progress towards your goals? Yes or no?

You can answer these questions by yourself. So yes, the thread does help you answer "is this workout good or not?"

I am definitely here to help you out, but I am not here to think FOR you. I am trying to help you learn to critically evaluate everything.

I have, in the past, helped many people construct their own routines to varying effect. Most of the time the workouts I construct are not ideal for the person namely because I don't know their conditioning level, background and other various factors that make them unique and thus must have a unique training according to their needs.

Basically, 2 & 3 will help you shape something that works for you.

If you want me to take a look at some of your goals such as gain muscle (not a good goal cause it's not quantifyable)... you don't have anything resembling strength work or mentioning diet at all. So obviously, this goal is not in line with your current workout plan. Goal = handstand.. well I don't see anything in your workout plan that would indicate that you even wanted to learn a handstand. So obviously, it does not seem like you are on the right track. Try again. The vaults are mentioned in both and I hope you have a progression you can use to work up to them.. so that's fairly good. You should, by now, be able to figure out the rest for yourself.
